Hi Ladies. Thank-You it is wonderful having the girls here now. I loved feeling the movement of them inside of me but it is so nice to be able to hold them and kiss them. CB, good to hear that you are doing well. How have you been feeling? The heat is not getting to you or are you in the air conditioning now? I am excited for you to find out what you are having? Let me know how everything goes. We a__sumed that the girls were identical because of the misdiagnosis of the monoamniotic pregnancy at our first US but they actually send away the placenta and will be able to tell us at our 6 week check-up if the girls are actually identical or not. They look so similiar, but all babies do. Let me know how everything goes. GOOD LUCK. MICHELLE, Thank-you. How have you been doing? How far along are you now? Hang in there you are doing a great job!

Candice- its sounds like you're doing wonderful! I'm so happy for you. I'm doing well. Dr has me off work and modified bed rest beginning probably Thursday. I will be 30 weeks on Friday and he's taking the "better safe than sorry" approach. I'm tired and HUGE, but doing relatively well considering! CB are you staying cool? How have you been feeling?

cb - November 11

HI ladies, well I had my scan today, and they are GIRLS!!!!! :))) They both are doing really well, one is about 400g and the other is about 350g!! It was so amazing seeing just about everything like the arteries and blood flow!!! Im am just so happy!!! I move back in with my partner next weekend, looking forward to the air-conditioning and also doing up the girls room!!! Everything else is going along smoothly, the heats not getting to me too much, thankfully!!! Hope all is going well for you all!!! Talk again soon!!

Congrats on your little girls! I'm so happy for you! I wonder what grams translate into pounds or ounces? You know, the US really ought to have taught the Metric system exclusively when we were growing up.... I guess they just wanted to be different! :-) I bet you can't wait to get into that air conditioning! Try not to do too much lifting when you move! I overdid it yesterday, and I paid for it big time. I was in tears in the middle of the night and could hardly walk because my back was hurting so bad.

cb - November 16

Hi Michelle, not extactly too sure on the conversion, different books say different things, but one place says that 350g is 12 ounces, but not too sure on what 400g would be!!! This weekend we move all my big stuff, but I have started on smaller things already, and I am staying up there since last night!! Relaxed in the air-con today! Ahh that was nice!!! Hope all is going well for you!! Talk soon :))

Hi! Sounds like things are much more comfortable for you lately! =) I am home...on modified bed rest for the remainder of the pregnancy. I was ok the first couple of days, but now I'm starting to have cabin fever! Although- we got our first snow yesterday, so I'm really happy that I don't have to drive in it! Do you get snow in Australia, or is it more of a tropical climate all year?

Candice - November 17

Hi CB and Michelle. You sound like you are hanging in there. Congratulations CB, GIRLS! YEAH!! I have four so it is nice to hear that I am not the only one having girls. Good job Michelle you are just about there. Good for you. It will be nice to be off work now you can rest and relax as much as you can. CB you are all moved now. What is modified bed rest? Are you okay? Nothing serious is it? It is getting cold here and the girls have colds. We go to see the DR today to check their weights. Their little noses are so stuffed and Ronnie's eyes are glued shut everytime she wakes. There is snow here now and it is such a pain to bundle them up and take them out. We don't leave the house very often. They are eating well and having plenty of wet and dirty diapers. Someone had mentioned maybe they had allergies. I will have to ask the DR today. Have a great day and hang in there!

Michelle - November 17

OMG! I must have preggo brain- I signed my post cb before... duh! I have no idea why I did that...I was thinking of asking you, cb, what the climate was like in Australia...maybe that's why I did that?! Crazy! Anyway, I'm the one on modified bed rest candice. I am very limited on what I can do. I do not have to stay in bed though. But, I can't vacuum and lift things. No heavy duty cleaning. It sounds like the girls are doing really well! What's the best piece of advice you can give us?

cb - November 21

Hi ladies, I cant beleive it is snowing where you are!, I have never seen snow, we do get it here in Australia, but only down South!!! We will go one year!!! The weather heather is very hot, humid and muggy!! We are coming into storm season! But I have moved now, and it is good to turn the air-cons on whenever I feel like it!!! Now I just have to go back and clean the flat, where I was living!! But will do it bit by bit!! Michelle it must be awfull to not be allowed to do much?? I want to start taking it easy now so I dont have to be put on bed rest!! Candice I had another check-up yesterday, all is going great, but I had a different doctor, and he mentioned to me that he would strongly suggest that I take an epidural just in case twin b doesnt want to participate with us!! Did you have one with having a natural birth??? That is also a main reason to why I dont want to have a c-section!!! I will talk to my doctor about it next time I see her!! Take care and keep warm!!! :))

cb - November 21

sorry, I too must have preggo brain!! I meant to say the weather here (not heather)

Hi Ladies. You sound like you are doing well. Michelle how are you feeling? How far along are you now?The best advice I can give you is try to keep them on the same schedule. If one wakes, wake the other it is so much easier otherwise you are constatnly feeding and changing. If you plan on b___stfeeding a twin nursing pillow is a must have! CB, yes it is very cold here and our one girl was beginning to get an ear infection so she was put on antibiotics. They are doing better now. I did have an epidural, My DR recommended it as well. There is a lot of pressure when the second baby is born and it would have been very painful without the epidural. Our baby B was born breech though so the DR had to reach up and grab her feet and pull her out and it was very uncomfortable. I would reccomend the epidural. It is a lot easier on everyone I think, but if you want a drug free birth you will have to look at the pros and cons I guess your DR can help you. I know with the epidural you are a lot more relaxed and it helps the labour progress faster cause you are not so tense. But then sometimes when it is time to push it is hard to feel the contractions. You'll know what is best for you. Stay cool and talk to you soon!

I was at the hospital last night with irregular braxton hicks that would not go away. So, just to be safe, I went in. Well, the good news is, I'm not dilating..the bad news is..they were contractions, not bh's. They let me go home since they weren't regular and they weren't causing me to dilate. But, my cervix is softening...I don't know how long before labor your cervix does that. I will be 32 weeks on Friday- which is Sammy's (my son) b-day. I would hate to wreck his b-day by being in the hospital, although he would love his 2 little brothers as his b-day present! Me, however, would like them to "cook" a bit longer. I'm glad the antibiotics are helping with the ear infection! I have a twin boppy and I will bring it to the hospital with me. Thanks for all your advice- I am taking mental notes! cb- I tried an epidural 3 times when I was in labor with Sammy and it only took on one side. But, if you have a c-section, they do a spinal block which is a little different so I'm told. I'm choosing not to have an epidural this time- I was told there was a good chance it wouldn't take again.

cb - November 29

Hi ladies, sorry I havnt been here for a while!! Tired, and trying to get things unpacked & back into place!!! Candice how is your girl going with the ear infection? My son had one last week too!! Hope everything else is going smoothly for you!! Michelle how are you doing?? Hopefully your babies are still cooking for a bit longer. Im scared of going into preterm labour!! I have to stop thinking about it! :) Thanks for you info about the epidural, I would love to have a drug free birth, (as I did with my son), next time I go to see the doctor I am booked in to see someone to tell me a bit more about the epidural!! That is on the 12th Dec!! Im getting organised for christmas now, done most of my shopping, (not like last year I left it all for the last week!) Tomorrow, me and my son are going to put up the christmas tree!! It will be the 1st of dec!!! Are you's doing anything special for christmas? So far we are just going to stay home this year!! Well take care and talk again soon :))

Michelle - December 1

I posted this on another website, but copied/pasted for you too! I came home yesterday from the hospital after having my babies on Nov 26. It was really really hard, leaving without my boys, but they are in good hands and getting stronger every day! Here's what happened: It actually started on Nov 25...sort of. I had gotten some sort of stomach virus and wound up in the hospital in IV meds for dehydration during the day. But, I wasn't having any contractions, so they let me go home. I was a sick puppy though! It seemed to get better by the morning of the 26th, though my intestines were still "aggravated" if you know what I mean. Anyway, around 6:30pm I felt better but was having these "intestinal cramps" down low that really hurt..but I didn't think they were contractions! LOL (duh...hadn't I been thru this before with my ds?! LOL) Anyway, around 7pm I started thinking maybe I should call the doc- not because I thought they were contractions, but I thought maybe there was something else wrong with my intestines! I was in total denial! But, just for the heck of it, I thought I should see if there was any pattern to the cramping, so I started timing. And, the cramps were pretty steady, around 5-6 minutes apart and would last about 60-90 sec while sitting and standing...and around 10 minutes apart when lying on my left side. But, since they didn't go away when I layed down...they couldn't be contractions, right?! What a dork I am! Around 7:45 or so, we decided I ought to call doctor. It was the same doc on call the day before that treated me, and she felt just as I did...it was probably related to the episode the day before, but why don't I go to the hospital just in case. So, we got a friend to take the boys and sent them with a change of clothes in case it got too late when we got home. And, for some reason we took our bags with us.... not sure why (divine intervention, maybe?!) And we got to the hospital. When we got there, they put me on a monitor right away and the babies were moving more than they had the day before, but they managed to establish that I was definately having contractions. So, they said they would keep me on for 20 minutes to establish if there was a pattern to them and then call the doctor to see if she wanted me to be checked for dilation. They said I would probably received some terbutuline and then get sent home, but we'd see what the doctor said. At this point is when I started realizing there was "peak" to the cramps and Scott was timing them well for me...he'd say, "ok..its going on 5 mintues. You should start to feel another one" and sure enough. At this point they were getting pretty painful too. (btw- when you're in denial about being in labor....forget everything you ever learned in childbirth cla__s! LOL I never got further than the first relaxed breathing! LOL) I mentioned to Scott that I thought I must be getting wimpy in my old age because I didn't think about drugs this early on with my last labor (8 years ago) but, gosh, I could sure use something right about now! The nurse came back in after about 20 minutes and saw the pattern, called the doc and came back with another nurse. She said that doc wanted me checked and "swabbed" to see the chances of labor starting within the next 24 hours (he he). So, the other nurse began prepping me for the swab and the other nurse looked and said, you might just want to check her and forget the swab- I see hair! OMG- I lost it at that point. I started crying- Scott was trying to calm me down, the nurses started scrambling, calling the doctor right back, etc, etc. I was 7-8 cm dilated at that point (no wonder I was feeling like I could use some drugs! LOL) and I don't know how effaced. I just kept crying, its too soon, its too soon. It got really busy at that point. I got moved to a preop room and they started prepping me for a c-section (all twins go to the c-section room, just in case). My doc got there and she quick got an u/s on me to see the babies' positions. Spencer was transverse, but his head was down and looked like he could go natural, so they decided to try that first and worry about what Corbin was doing later because I was feeling like pushing already! Spencer previously had been breech, so good boy Spencer! Now I'm being wheeled into the c-section room and doing the "puffy-cheek" breathing (the only other thing I did from childbirth cla__s! LOL) to keep from pushing, and they got me switched to the OR table. I don't know how much time pa__sed, but it couldn't have been long...after 2 or 3 pushes, Spencer arrived at 11:09pm. He was screaming and I was crying and I have no idea where Scott was.... good grief it all happened so fast! Scott was there, just not sure if he was by my head, or what. I was craning to see Spencer over by the table and the nursed were "doing their thing" and Spencer looked good and pink, so I focused my attention back to what the doctor was doing. She was trying to do another u/s to see where Corbin was. I'm not sure how he was positioned, but it wasn't vertex, that's for sure! So, the doctor and someone else tried to get Corbin into position. Girls, I do not recommend this ESPECIALLY without drugs! 2 women jumping on your belly after you have already given birth, while you're having a contraction....not fun! Thankfully, they gave up and decided to do a c-sect for Corbin. Unfortunately, they didn't have time to do a spinal, so I had to be put out. Scott had to leave the room since I was unconcious (not sure why...) And Corbin was born at 11:24pm. Both are doing really well for 32 weekers and I got to hold both of them before I left the hospital. One on Tuesday night and one yesterday. They are full of tubes and wires, but they are just the sweetest babies! The have no fat on them, so their skin is all wrinkly and they look like a cross between yoda and a really old man, and they have no b___t cheeks! just legs, back and a little hole... (tmi? sorry! LOL). They were really long... Spencer was 3lbs6 oz and 17 1/4 in long and Corbin was 3lbs7oz and 16 3/4 in long. And the have full head of blonde hair...almost like blonde streaks...like little surfer dudes! LOL

Congrats Michelle, glad to hear you're all okay. They sound so cute with their 'hairdos'

cb - December 2

CONGRATULATIONS on your boys arrivals!!! Sorry to hear they came a little ealier than you would have liked, but it sounds like they are doing really well!! Did they give you a rough estimate on how long they will have to be in hospital for?? Take care and rest as much as you can before they come home!! :)
