I HAVE ABSOLUTELY NO HISTORY OF TWINS ON EITHER SIDE OF MY FAMILY.I AM 32.I HAVE GIVEN BIRTH TO 4 KIDS ~ 2BOYS & 2GIRLS.I WANT TWINS NEXT TIME...CAN YOU TAKE SOY ISOFLAVONES & CLOMID AT THE SAME TIME? IF SO HOW SOON AFTER YOU STOP TAKING BIRTH CONTROL PILLS SHOULD YOU START THEM?

Hi 6TURNERS, I definitely wouldn't take the two together. If you are serious about wanting twins, I would suggest the clomid vs soy because most Dr.s say that soy is a bit of a wives-tale. After you stop taking the birth control, you need to wait until your period starts, and then take your clomid (either 50mg or 100mg) on days 2-6, 3-7, or 5-9 of your cycle (while you are having your period). Days 3-7 seem to be the preference of most of our girls on here who are trying for twins. Take the clomid for 5 days only. According to research you should ovulate between 5 and 10 days after you take your last clomid pill, but most of us have found that the clomid can delay your ovulation a bit longer than that, so I would use an ovulation predictor kit (opk). Also clomid can dry up your fertile cm, so, many of us take mucinex (the kind with guaifenesin as the only ingredient) from the last day of clomid until ovulation. You might want to try baby aspirin as well, from the last day of bleeding until you get a positive pregnancy test to help improve the quality of your uterine lining and help prevent m/c. I hope this wasn't too much information. . . Keep us posted with what you decide to do, and how it turns out. Baby Dust

6turners, I am in your situation also. I have been on the birth control pill for 5 years. With the 2 kids that I have I got pregnant the first month of birth control. I really want twins or triplets. I would love to have 1 boy a 1 girl. I dont know if I should get of birth control 1 month before I start ttc with clomid. I would be happy with 1 but I want to incress my chances for twins and I am not sure what would be the best thing to do with my birth control. I will probly keep taking it untill the first month 1 take clomid. I think going of the birth contol the same month I take clomid might make me release more eggs since my body might try to make up for the last 5 years but I dont know for sure. Let me know what you decide to do. When are you going to start ttc with clomid?

I WANT TO GIVE BIRTH IN AUGUST 2011...SO I'M PLANNING ON STOPPING BIRTH CONTROL PILLS & STARTING CLOMID (MAY 2010)6 MONTHS BEFORE I TRY TO CONCIEVE.IF I CALCULATED CORRECTLY I WANT TO GET PREGNANT IN NOVEMBER 2010. FINGERS CROSSED :) HOPE IT WORKS :)

Taking clomid for 6 months *before* you ttc is not a good idea. When you take your clomid near the beginning of your cycle (days 2-6, 3-7, or 5-9) the clomid is effective for that cycle ONLY. If you do not get pregnant, and your period starts, you will need to take it again. Most Dr.'s don't suggest taking clomid for more than 6 consecutive months. Also, please research ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome, as this can be a *rare* side effect of clomid. Blessings & Baby Dust
