Chris- Hello, I'm not sure why my Dr. didn't send for this test to begin with. I did get pregnant about 4 years ago and I was ovulating on my own, but not every month. We are scheduling the HSG test today. Good luck to all!

Hello all, I have read many or your postings, and it is encouraging to see how many of you were successful with Clomid. My husband and I tried sans drugs for a year, and we just finished our third month with Clomid, all unsuccessful. I stay in a constant state of extreme stress (which does not help, I know!). I am currently only seeing my OB/GYN. Is a fertility specialist MORE stressful, or does it help knowing that you are seeing someone who specializes in the field? I took this month "off" from Clomid, because I was an emotional wreck. Before pursuing a specialist, I would greatly appreciate some of your feedback!

Question. I'm on my first cycle (5-9) with Clomid. I'm currently on day 13 and had some spotting. This is the time I'm suppose to be ovulating. Is this a side effect of the clomid or is this a normal thing during ovulation. I've never had mid cycle spotting before. Any answers?

Beth, I too have become very stressed out over my situation. After being on Chlomid for 6 cycles I have decided to see a specialist. I think this should be less stressful b/c they will help pin point a problem...if there is any. I wish you the best of luck. I'll keep you posted.

Taylor, thank you for your response back. I greatly appreciate hearing from those who have "been there, done that" and REALLY know how I am feeling!

beth, i know what you mean. pd came today and i have hsg test on friday. i am a wreck, worried about the test and a___lyzing every pain and soreness. i have an apt. on thursday to talk to my dr. before the procedure. i am going to ask him about doing test to check my follicle stimulation and estrogen levels, this is to be done on 3rd day of cycle - so i could have blood tests on thursday. there was a woman i worked with that was on clomid for a year and found out it was producing antibodies killing off sperm and her problem all along was low estrogen levels. good luck

Hi everyone, I am new to this. I have been trying to conceive for over two years now and have yet to succeed. So I sought professional help to see if that would get me to conceive. I just started Provera today and am really worried about taking the Clomid and not getting the results that I am hoping for. How do you handle not getting stressed out?? They say stress is not a good factor in trying to conceive.

Hi all, I am so glad I found all of you! My husband and I miscarried in Feb with our first baby and then found out that the miscarrage brought on a whole new set of problems. I have polycuysitc ovarian syndrome, which I had when I was nineteen and with the pill got through it to be able to concieve 10 years later. Now we start clomid on the 30th and I a bit scared. What if this doesn't work? How long can you stay on clomid? and How bad are the side effects? Thanks for all of your encouraging stories and help!

Hey MaryBeth, this is my first cycle on clomid and i haven't had any side effects except for hot flashes at night. I'm on day 20 of my cycle waiting to see if it worked this month. Good Luck to you! I have been charting my temperature this month and it was 97.6 all the way until day 14 of my cycle, then it went to 97.4. Today is day 20 and it jumped up to 97.8. I thought it was supposed to increase right after ovulation but the decrease has screwed me all up. Does anyone have any comments or advice on that?

Mary Beth, I also have PCOS, and I have taken Clomid for the past several months. I will be honest with you. I turn into a bear! My poor husband gets the brunt of it. Logically I realize that I am being irrational, but it doesn't matter. He gets it anyway! Thankfully, it doesn't last too long (My Clomid cycle is 5-9 and my "moodiness" lasts from about 8-12). Also, Jody is really understanding, and if a few days of my being a jerk will work in the long run, he and I both agree it is worth it! As to how long you can take Clomid, what I have read varies from article to article. However, what I see most consistently and what my physician recommends is no more than a year. Over that year your doseage may increase over time (double month 3 or 4, triple month 6 or 7). Best of luck to you, and remember side effects vary, and you might be one of the lucky ones who sails through with no problems at all!

Hi Mary Beth I also have PCOS and I have endometriosis. I am 33 and also miscarried in March. It was also our first. I am now on my 4th month of Clomid since the miscarriage. I am on Glucophage 500mg twice daily for the PCOS and Clomid 100mg. He doubled it last month because my progesterone level was only 0.6 on 50mg. I too have the hot flashes at night and mood swings some but they do pa__s. Although the side effects are worse for me on the 100mg.We have been married for 15 years so it has been a long road. Best thing I can tell you is just try to relax. Best of luck to you all and lots of prayers and baby dust!

Leslie, thanks for your response! You have described my thoughts and feelings perfectly! I met with a doctor yesterday who described each month's Clomid failure and my reaction to it the same as one's response to a death. He is right! I am having an HSG next month, and as apprehensive as I am, I will be glad to know. I am fortunate that I work at a hospital, so some of the tests aren't so daunting! Good luck with everything, and keep us posted.

New to this -- hope you don't mind another contributor. I am waiting for my pd to come in order to begin with clomid (will be my first cycle; 50 mg days 5-9). Normally I have very long cycles -- 65 days -- but according to BBT do ovulate and then get my pd. This time, I am on day 67 and still have not seen a thermal shift (indicating no ovulation) and no pd. I'm getting impatient and wondered what can be done to stimulate pd to start.

KT - August 18

Anne-Thats a long time!!! I feel bad for complaining about having to wait 37 days for my pd to start so i could have started my first month on clomid. I'm on my first month now day 21. I hope that im pregnant but trying not to be too excited! Good Luck to you!
