Question About Twin Pregnancy

So I have looked all over the internet for info on this subject and read threads here that pretty much put my mind at ease about it being nearly impossible to miss atwin on an ultrasound-however, at my 22 week ultrasound all was well-big baby-not surprised-my first was big yadda yadda-at my last visit my doc measured my belly-and he stated that I was going to have a big baby-we already know that-anyways-I called to see if my glucose test is going to be at my next appt. and the nurse said that yes and I need to plan on possibly going to the lab for an ultrasound again to rule out a multiple pregnancy bc of my "fundal height"? I said that I had had two ultrasounds and that it was only one-and she said that I need not worry-cause the doc just wants to be certain so that there are no surprises later. Umm, I am 29 weeks now-isn't that impossible to have missed something as a big as another baby by now? I think it is just rediculous-and for the doc not to mention something before??

We knew at 7wks by internal u/s that we were expecting twins. Now at 23wks & with many u/s behind us, the twine have been very visible. I don't know if you can really miss another baby, but anything is possible! Reproduction is always a mystery!

In my humble opinion yes it would be next to impossible to miss a baby. U/S are done in real time and the babies don't shadow each other 100% of the time so the tech would have seen extra limbs, cords, placentas, and two heads. I talked to a sono tech and this is what she had to say:
I am a sonographer, and I can tell you that unless you are morbidly obese and your ultrasound was extremely limited at the 20 wk scan, that if the sonographer or your doc, whoever, missed a second baby at that time, they should absolutely not be scanning. At that stage of developement, you can see the whole baby on the screen at one time, and underneath and around it, and one cannot hide the other if there are twins."

Hi, I'm not sure if this will help or if it is even true, but a friend of mine called me the other day and said that her sister just delivered twins and she didn't even know she was having twins! I don't know how they can miss a baby on the US, I have 5 mos identical girls and they were very present at every stage we had US. She claims that she had one US at 25 weeks and that was it and then delivered twins not knowing! I guess maybe it is possible, but with todays technology I don't see how they could miss another baby! I guess this lady only had one US but still it does sound ridiculous especially in this day and age!
