Things To Pack For Hospital Stay

I thought I would start a thread so ladies that have had twins or even babies can help the new moms or moms of multiples to be. This is for ideas on what to pack when you stay at the hospital..................................First, I packed some humungous, comfy cotton uderwear that I could end up throwing away and my own over-night ALWAYS maxipads. The hospital here gives you these horrible mesh underwear and 5 foot long pads. Ick!.............................I also packed some chocolate kisses for the nurses. Having twins especially, you are going to get a lot of help from these wonderful people and they deserve something nice....................................I also got all my personal stuff like shampoo, conditioner, hairspray and deoderant in the miniature sizes at Target. Leaves lots of room in the bag............................Camera............................br___t pads for when you start leaking..................................Baby books for people to sign...................................and I got a nice nighty with a matching robe for the day and slept in the horrible hospital gowns at night. I'm glad I did because I even had my DH friends visiting and my dad's business clients!

Thanks for the advice. As we are out of town, & returning home at 24wks, we will be taking our birthing cla__s rather late. The director of the multiple cla__s sent us a list of reading material & stuff to bring to the hospital. It's not as good of a list as you have given. Did you have to bring diapers as well? Smart move regarding the underwear, I wouldn't have thought about disposable ones!

No, they supply the diapers, formula, pacifier, blankets, a t-shirt and aspirators. I did bring little socks for them to keep up their body temp. and little mittens to keep from scratching themselves, even though the shirt folds over their hands.

Oh don't forget to bring a support belt (such as the Mandela Support Belt). It's tight around your stomach to hold you in and to help you're stomach "shrink down". (of course this isn't a miracle item, it can only shrink it down so much!).

Oh and forgot to mention, bring some nursing bras (duh!) and a b___stfeeding book if you have it. The nurses were so busy when I was in the hospital that I looked through my book and it answered a lot of the questions I had.

Oh, and also some socks or slippers. They might make you walk, especially if you have a c-section and the floors are just gross.

I think I should start taking notes! Maybe if I start packing now, I'll actually be prepared. I'm so glad you ladies are here & have your heads screwed on straight!

I retained a lot of fluid in my legs and feet. So much that my shoes couldn't fit me. See if you can find some slippers that are a bit larger than what you normally wear. (try to get wider ones).

Hey ladies, I know I'm not a multiple mommy but I had a tip for you. My son got totally addicted to the pacifier they gave him at the hospital and when they started to deteriorate we found out that they weren't pacifiers you could buy anywhere else!! We ended up having to beg some off the hospital as they didn't have any of the same shape on the market either. I think it is better to bring your own so you know it can be replaced when it is time to throw it away! Hope this is helpful!

Frances, that's a good one. We had to ask the nurses for about 5 extra for each of my kids. Turns out when we brought them home they didn't even use them.

If they are those weird ones that you can see the little mouth sucking on it, I saw some at Walmart or Target. I can't remember which one.

Keep it coming ladies! I need all the info I can get. I've started my list, but I need a bigger bag!

The ones we got were solid rubber, powder blue and an unusual shape. I've never seen them anywhere else! I loved them at first because he loved them, then when I figured out what a pain they were gonna be I hated them!!!

You might want you husband to bring some warm clothes. They keep the labor room to like 60 degrees! My poor husband was freezing! Also, bring some juice and snacks for him, too.

Are you saying that I have to think about him too?? LOL

Yeah, I'd actually recommend a small but warm blanket for hubby... At my hospital all he got was a sheet.. literally.

Why am I not lit up in red?
