A lot of woman opt NOT to have these tests done because there is a high chance of getting a false positive, which freaks woman out for no reason.

I know 3 people that had this test come back with abnormal results and all 3 of them had NORMAL babies. It is highly irregualr in a lot of cases! Don't worry till you have too! Good Luck!

my best friend had a false positive. I didnt even have the triple screening done just in case it did come back positive. I didnt want to worry myself for months before the baby was born. Plus, I'd keep the baby anyway, no matter what, so there was no point.

i had the same thing happen to me with my daughter with the blood test....the test is not really positive...because mothers in 18 - 20s have a low chance of having a downsyndrome baby theres that 2 percent its more towards the middle aged group like late 30s and 40s etc and i stressed my self about it till i was 7 months by the time i gave birth their was no sign of downsyndrome healthy baby but please have an ultrasound as much as you can to make sure any abnormalities. are seen....i hope that helps muahz have a healthy 9 months....

I'm 37 and 9 weeks pregnant - I'm not having these tests done just for the reason of a false positive. Two of my friends were told they had a 1:20 and 1:45 change of having downs syndrome babies - their children were completely normal. So instead, they had a highly stressed last 1/2 of pregnancy where my 1 friend was on bed rest because her blood pressure went sky high. This child I'm carrying is a blessing in way that it is delivered. But I fully believe my child will be healthy. Too much hype and panic about "older" women - do they do these tests for drug addict mothers or alcholic mothers? Their children are quite often healthy too!
