Hi ladies, My 17.5 week u/s is on Wednesday. Quite nervous to see if all is okay in there. I know what you mean about the other threads. Lately when I go on the m/c one, I read the sad stories and get scared about things happening. I don't think it's good for my psyche. As far as your long drive, I don't blame you. I probably will hibernate my last month. lol My friend gave birth 7 weeks early and had a normal pregnancy with no indications whatsoever that she'd go early. All women are different I guess.

COOKIE: I was told that if I was premature, I can deliver early. I was born 6 weeks early so there is always that possibility... but it can be a full term instead... so I won't know until it happens. LOL! I am going for a natural non-med, non epi birth. What are you girls looking at?

Hi ladies, had my dr's appt today...I've gained 26 pounds, and she's head down...and her heart beat sounded so loud...lol...amazing to think the first time he tried to hear it we could barely find it...we also had our first prenatal cla__s...it was fun, I knew most of the stuff but it was good for dh, and at the end we did a relaxation exercise so it was nice to cuddle with dh for 15 minutes..i'm not sure if I'm going completely natural...I'm not ruling out an epi...but I'm going to try w/o it first...our hospital birthing suites have jacuzzi's flex b___s...and we have alot of freedom to try different things so we'll see...but alot of my friends are all telling me not to be headstrong and epidurals are the best way to go...so we'll see....i've been having period cramps lately with lower back pain..anyone else feeling that? Good luck tomorow ladies...can't wait to hear how the u/s went...and Michele good luck...my next appt. is in 3 weeks then I go to the weekly...for some reason my dr's office doesn't think that I am going to go full term...which I hope is true...I wouldn't mind giving birth at 38 or 39 weeks...lol...

Just got in. When we first got in, the tech made a statement that she was having trouble seeing the baby. I almost when off the edge. My face got hot and I felt very panicky. DH was rubbing my foot and it seemed like an eternity before she found it. She said she had trouble because baby was on it's stomach. After about 10 minutes, he/she turned over and she got some good measurments. she said she could see two arms and legs and the four chambers of the heart. She was pretty vague so I've called my OB for more details. Am I crazy? -------We also got some photos. I was so tense when I left there, I cried like a baby out of relief and joy.

NVgirl - October 25

Hi ya girls. ••••• KRISTINE: Sorry the tech made you upset. I would have cried to from relief afterwards as well. But I am glad all was well. Did they say they knew what the s_x was? ••••• COOKIE: I went to an all day long child birthing cla__s with DH on Saturday and did a walk through of the hospital's maternity ward. You are lucky yours has jacuzzis. I am so envious! The jacuzzi are suppose to make the labor pains better. You should really try that when you are there. ••••• Today was an interesting appointment. In the last 2 weeks I have only gained 1 pound. I really liked that, so I am up 32 pounds from pre-pregnancy weight. My blood pressure was 120/80 – not too shabby. The baby’s heartbeat was 135, 140…. So that was good. I am measuring a perfect 34 weeks… I seem to always measure on time. I guess that is good. And to top it off the P.A. turned on the u/s machine to see where the baby was. Looks like the baby is heads down with its big ole b___t squashing my stomach. I thought cool I will get to see everything in the u/s. NOPE! It was very confusing at what I was looking at. I swear the u/s machine at the OBGYN must be archaic or something because I couldn’t tell a foot from a hand --- but I was able to make out the spine and saw the heart beating. I told my DH afterwards and all he wanted to know was if I could see the s_x. I said I was unable to see and the P.A. did not mention anything. So I think he was a little bummed. LOL, he is still hoping for a boy. Welp, 6 more weeks to go.

No we told her we didn't want to know. My hospital has whirlpools also but you are limited to 45 minutes if someone is waiting. You can't birth in them, only labor. I want to go natural. From what I learn in my prenatal cla__s, it's all about the mind. She says if you let it go haywire, the pain will be unbearable. I want to keep my options open but hope to have the inner strength to go natural. Cookie, what do you do in prenatal, is that a birthign cla__s? Mine is exercise.

Cookie - October 26

hiya, good to hear that you were able to see your baby in the u/s...I always hold my breath in the beginning fearing the worst (even now...as she squirms all the time I wont feel completely safe until she is in my arms)....the prenatal cla__ses are those offered at the hospital covering birthing, postpartum, and hopspital tour...no exercise, although I have a prenatal pilates video I do and a flex ball, I try to work out every other day...although my walking has become limited because of hip pain when I walk...i'm so excited we just ordered the wood floor for Mackenzie's room and will be putting it in next wednesday...it should be all done for my baby shower next weekend so my friend can stay in there...i'm so glad to be almost done... I have a few very busy weeks ahead of me at work...yuck

Kristine - October 26

Is this your first shower? How's her room coming along besides the floor?

Cookie - October 27

Hi, I actually had a "mini" shower a few months ago, it was a small lunch with about 8 girlfriends on the west coast of florida, which was fun but I didn't really get anything off my registry...this one I will probably have about 35 people...and then my mom is hosting to lunches for a few of her friends as well...I'm hoping when I go home today that the baby's room is at least primed...my poor dh is working like mad...between his jobs he's powerhousing through the room...we bought the paint two days ago...really pretty shades of green...I'll take some pics, when its done...but i'm so computer retarded that I'm not sure how to post them anywhere...I have a kodak site, but I don't know how to send the link other than via email...last night I had the worst pain...10 times worse than any period pain...thought maybe braxtin hicks...but my dr is now telling me to take it easy...so I had to tell my senior partner that we need to start putting the firm on maternity mode (fat chance as i'm getting piled with even more work...)...how are you feeling? I remember you asked about Maternity clothes for work...my office is pretty formal so I got 2 pairs or black pants, 1 pair grey pants, 1 khaki, and a few of my dresses still fit...then I just bought standard, white, blue, red, maternity shirts and I rotate them through the week...I some of them at JCPenny's and at Motherhood....

Hi Girls, Happy Halloween...I look like a pumpkin with my orange sweater on...lol...I think Mackenzie is dropping, i'm carrying alot lower that I have been...my co-workers have all made comments on it...also my poor dh is such a trooper he was up till 3am working on the baby's room then was up again at work by 6....it's really looking cute....I love how the colors are coming together...this weekend is my baby shower so it should be fun...also my SIL had her blood test last week, and it came back ok, and she heard they heard the hb yesterday and the baby looks to be 6 w 5 d (so 6ds today)....keeping my fingers crossed for her...

Kristine - October 31

Glad to hear about your sil. I heard from the nurse and she said the u/s was normal. I am relieved. I can't wait to register. My shower will be at the end of January.-------------Started thinking about it and our time is limited ladies. I'll be going it alone pretty soon :-(-------------------I'll say it now in case you both go in early. Thanks for all your support this past year. My best cyber friends. So happy you two will have your babies soon!!

NVgirl - October 31

Hi ya girls..... today is a milestone that I have been stressing over. It is my 1-year anniversary of my miscarriage. So far it has been a good day and nothing out of the ordinary has ocurred, thank goodness! ••••• KRISTINE: What are you talking about??? There is no way I am gonna stop talking to you when my baby is born. I am here for support and to give support. If anything you are welcome to e-mail me if that would be easier for you to stay in contact. Let me know. But like I said, I am here for the long haul. ••••• COOKIE: Glad to read your SIL is doing well. ••••• Talk to you soon!

Ditto for me...we are sort of the three amigos..lol...its amazing to think how much we have gone through this past year...and I totally can't wait to find out what your having...Michele, I'm sending you a big hug for yesterday...it's always so painful....I had my first m/c in 99, and it still hurts to think about....we had an interesting cla__s last night, a doula came into to speak and teach us various positions to use while pushing...which was too funny, b/c she had the partners (most of whom are the fathers) get in the positions and pretend to push...the guys were so out of thier league...now they can empathize with what we will go through...my dh really wants me to go w/o any meds...I'd like to try and may get a Doula to help (they are pretty cheap I was suprised)...but I wont give up the option of meds...its easy for him to tell me I wont remember the pain, he's not the one going through it...my nightly cramps and backaches have been getting pretty bad...so if this is any indication then bring on the epi....what are you ladies thinking of doing?

Kristine - November 1

Thanks ladies, you two are great! I plan to go med free but keeping my options open as well. I looked into doulas but they were $300 and above. I'd hate to spend the money on a doula and then end up getting the meds.

Cookie - November 1

Kristine, your insurance may cover some of the doula services...the doula that came in said rather than asking your insurance company...ask the doula service b/c many of them will fill out the paper work so that you get 60-80% of the fees back....I like the thought they do a prenatal and a postpartum home visit...would be nice to have an experienced person outside of the ever so "helpful" family and friends give a little insight and lend an ear to the panics of a first time mom.....

Kristine - November 7

Hi ladies, I had my monthly appt. yesterday. It was very quick, just a hb check and I was on my way. What should I expect for my 24 week appt? Aren't they supposed to measure my stomach soon? I always forget to ask these questions when I'm there. I guess I am so nervous every time I go to the OB, I forget. She did mention the glucose test at 28 weeks.
