My name is Sonya, I am 36 years old and Chad, my husband, is 32. We have been together for ten years and married three of those ten. We are from Shreveport, Louisiana. This is Our Story.
I am the oldest of seven children. I have three sisters and three brothers. All of my siblings have children except my youngest brother. My husband Chad has a younger sister who has given us a beautiful niece. He also has a stepbrother and sister-in-law who have a precious little girl as well as a wonderful stepsister. We love being an aunt and uncle, but “mommy” and “daddy” would mean so much more.
God blessed us a few days before Christmas with a foster child — a six-week baby boy, whose mom said she didn\\\'t want him. We took him into our home and loved and nurtured him like he was our own. Unfortunately, after a few days the baby’s biological father decided he wanted him back. So after having him in our home for ten weeks, we had to return him to his father. We thank God everyday for the experience and love of this baby boy. He will be in our hearts forever.
This has been such a hard traumatic time for us — one of the hardest things we have had to accept and get through. Our hearts are torn but God has shown us that we are ready and long to be parents.
