I'm 39 and seriously thinking of having another baby,I'd been infertile until I reached the age of 34(PCOS) so my baby having days started late,I was wondering if anyone knows what the chances of having a downs baby at my age are.I already have two beautiful little boys but I would like to have three children.

well I think its like 1 in 500 or something like that.Im 16 and when i got pregnant they thought Addison Jade had downs. And it was 1 in 500 when it was suppose to be 1 in 5000 and they said something like My chances were like that of a 40 year old. I think. So I think that youll be ok. go for it. I hope it works out ok for you.....good luck

Hi, I'm 30 and I'm on my second. I was told I have a 1 of 75 chance of having a down but I decided not to confirm by amino test. For me the answer I got were just if's. I just monitor my sugar every other day but not diebetic, gluc. intolence. Just because one sugar level came back high. All in all thats my situation. I think it would really depend on how healthy you are and how fit you are. My mom had me when she was 39 yrs and I'm the 6th and last kid. I was a preemie but I'm normal as can be. Good luck on your decision.

I am not sure of the exact stats. I think it is nice you want more children, but definitely weigh the risks. Talk to your obstetrician or see a high-risk specialist before conceiving. I know ALL children are beautiful, but you won't be alive forever which would mean that your other children will have to take care (or see to the care) of a special needs child. Not that that is a bad thing, but just think of EVERY consequence and scenerio.
