you said he was weaned during the day. i a__sume that he still takes a nap during the day. i found that with my son if i nursed him down for a nap and then napped cuddled up with him he slept better at night only getting up twice. i dont know if this is an option but i would try nursing him during the day a couple of times and see if that helps.

Debbie, I have the same problem with my one year old .She is up what seems like every hour wanting to nurse. Some times she sucks 3-4 times and she is out, but if I move she is screaming. I do believe she is using me for her pacifier. I hate to see bed time come because I know what will be like. Some days I dont know how I make it with the amount of sleep that im getting. So I know how you feel, It can drive you crazy !! I have tried several tips with no luck . I think now im going to try the tip on rubbing something sour or bitter on my nipples to get her off for good (for my own good too!).I do love to nurse her, but it is dragging me down.I have some medical test that needs to be done asap but cant nurse for three days after, so I think if she is with out for that long I hate to put her through this again at a later time. And Cathy I agree that your comment was rude and NOT helpful at all.

Wow, that sucks. I hated when my son didn't sleep through the night for the first couple of weeks. My son had a similar problem but it was all day. He would constantly want to nurse for comfort. I started bottle feeding him and nursing. Not everyone wants to do this but I knew I had to go back to work at 6 weeks. When I know he is absolutly not hungry I hold him like I'm nursing him with a pacifier. He loves this because he is close to his mommy or whoever is doing it. He is 8 weeks and 14 pounds so I know he's getting enough food.
