Apparently, Pot is mind altering. A normal mind with common sense tells you that anything you put in you system that alters your mood (changing you from the everyday stress of being a mom to a person who cares about nothing but herself), makes you feel light headed, causes slurred speach and delayed reactions. Items such as pot, alcohol, cigaretts, prescription drugs and certain oct meds are killing your brain cells (altering your mind). You are a perfect example how this drug affects brain cells. You are convinced getting high on a daily basis is okay. To the majority of the poulation this is not the normal. Your brain is fried.

first of all, viviane, no you cannot get a dui for driving under the influence of marijuana because police have no "roadside tests" they can do to check if someone is high on weed and a p__s test cannot prove that a person has recently smoked since thc stays in ones system for 30 days after consumption. and no, mj smoke does not harm a baby/child in any way, it is NOT the same as cigarette smoke. so get your "facts" straight before giving misinformation. brandi, we aren't talking about multiple drugs here, we are talking about marijuana use only. changing lanes in traffic without signaling is illegal too, so whats your point? there is no reason for marijuana to be illegal, esp when harmful things like cigs and alcohol are legal. marijuana doesn't make you hide away and be a fiend like crack, okay. i am the one taking care of my child full time and i step into my room every so often for 2 minutes to smoke a joint, come right back out and play with my DD or do the dishes, whatever every other stay at home mom does all day. and to the nameless poster, pot doesn't take away the everyday stresses of being a mom and make me some selfish, non caring druggie. you obviously don't know anything about pot and i don't know why you are even on this forum. it does not make me light headed, slurring, and in some stupid daze. all mj does for me is calm my high anxiety, prevent me from having attacks, allows me to live a "normal" life, allows me to eat normally and gain weight against my hyperthyroidism and helps me carry my babies to full term instead of having more miscarriages. and it is also under doctoral direction even though i live in a state that does not support medical marijuana. but yeah, my brain is fried and i'm just some lame-o hippy pothead. bet you'd also like to know about my high IQ, maybe? and i hate to break it to ya but the "majority" you speak of is marijuana smokers, YOU are the minority, not me.

i always found it odd how some subjects could strike such a personal note with so many people. any one who has ever done unbiased research on the effects of delta-9 tetra hydro cannibinol will know that it is in no way toxic to any cell in the human body (including those of the CNS). I also find it very odd that people are so quick to pa__s hypocritical judgements onto others when they really need to be spending some time looking in the mirror and realizing that just because the government and the media say something is right and good doesnt make it so, and vice-versa. I have known many pot-smokers and the majority of them are more down to earth and realistic than those that choose to believe whatever they are told. i like these forums because i am able to see the opinion of the average citizen but for the facts you need to learn from the experts, and scientists.

some one with more edjucation (like your doctor) than some bird brained nosey nieghbor type is the best person to ask about these sort of things. thats what i've decided since witnessing the uppity views and ignorant statements on not only this forum, but several others as well. PLEASE if you want what is best for your baby talk to your doctor and if still not sure get a second opinion as well>and here is some interesting research done by Pediatricians: http://www.marijuananews.com/marijuananews/cowan/were_crack_babies_a_myth.htm

Smoking pot while b___st feeding is harmful.. and dont you think you should be more responsible? Watching your child while High on marijuana is just plain stupid, think about your child... plus pot isnt addictive.. so quit, then you wont have to ask such stupid questions

To: "anon" who posted on September 3, 2005: You claim to practice yoga... um... haven't you learned through yoga about NON JUDGEMENT? If you haven't yet, it should be your next level of evolution. Really. Ask your yoga teacher about it. I'm sure you'll learn alot about non judgement, and not needing to put others down. Yoga teaches non violence, tolerance of those with different views, not imposing your view on others, and deep listening and loving speach.

How could it be okay to smoke while pregnant (in terms of helping naseau) and not be okay when nursing?

If I have recently fallen preganant and I know for a fact that the prospective father of my baby has been using cocaine whenever we've had s_x, is it at all possible that this drug use could effect my unborn child?

.. - October 3

As a mother of three children i have tried smoking mj before and i would never attempt to try it while preggy or bfing. Just think it is a mind altering drug it does something for you that's why you smoke it in the first place. So who's to say that it doesn't affect your babies that same way . Also i am not being judgemental i have a cousin who smoked while pregnant and bfing, it's everyones choice when it comes down to it. There is no law stating that you can't do these things. But i just think that if you want a baby that much you should be able to quit for the time needed.

Nina - October 4

Please could you actually answer my question instead of just posting my question? I would like to know if my baby is at any risk because of the fact that when it was concieved the father was high on cocaine???

livsmomma - October 4

nina, you might check out erowid.com for an answer to your question.

The amount of THC found in b___st milk of cannabis users is low despite acc_maltion with regular use. Only heavy cannabis use will result in amounts that possibly are relevant for the baby. Occasional or low regular use will probably not be of relevance. Franjo Grotenhermen Marijuana has no reliable impact on birth size, length of gestation, neurological development, or the occurence of physical abnormalities. The administration of hundreds of tests to older children has revealed only minor differences between the offspring of marijuana users and nonusers, and some are positive rather than negative. (...) While it is sensible to advise women to abstain from all drugs during pregnancy, the weight of evidence suggests that marijuana does not directly harm the human fetus. Zimmer L, Morgan JP. Marijuana Myths Marijuana Facts. A review of the scientific evidence. New York/San Francisco: The Lindesmith Center, 1997. Should be pointed out that smoking marijuana has the same effects as smoking tabacco. Ingestion maybe an option, but I found no supporting doc_mentation on that. http://www.erowid.org/plants/can-nabis/cannabis_myth7.shtml www.acmed.org/english/faq/01pregnancy.htm www.a1b2c3.com/drugs/wom06.htm www.acmed.org/english/faq/20-b___stmilk.htm
