I am trying to look up the statistics on delivering a healthy baby by C-section. All websites give the maternal statistic. 1 in 2500 mothers die due to the C-section, but what are the statistics for a healthy baby? If anyone has this information, please share it with me as I would love to know!
Thank you!

Based on my research, the odds of having a healthy baby via c-sec vs. vag. birth are the same.

Based on extensive schooling (nursing student) the odds are better for an uncomplicated v____al birth vs an uncomplicated c-section. The risks go up either way when issues come into play. IF ALL THINGS ARE OTHERWISE EQUAL, the c-section babies have been proven to be more at risk for many things four of the are:
cut by scalpel, premature delivery, reactions to anesthesia too, and wet lungs requiring invasive procedures and stays in the NICU for respiratory distress symndrome. If the baby isn't squeezed through the birth ca___l (see, it does havea purpose!) all the fluid stays down deep in the baby's lungs and it's first breath is not only very difficult, it can also be painful for them. I had four by section out of necessity and 2 or the 4 were either early or had severe respiratory distress. Both were in the NICU for over a month at a monetary cost alone of approx. 50,000 a piece. C-sections save babies and moms but they are not cosmetic procedures and women should really think about this when they think they can choose one for no medical reason. Good luck.
