Anyone out there diagnosed with DVT? I'm having this weird thing going on with my leg, the back of my knee. Every time I cross my leg, it immediately starts hurting right there. A few weeks ago, I felt like something was wrong with my calf; it felt tight all the time and would bug me when I was exercising. Now it's the back of my knee. I can't feel it all the time, though. My friend who is an OT said that with DVT, the skin in the spot with the clot would feel warm and may even be red, and mine is not. Also she made me straighten my leg and flex my foot, and she pushed my foot toward the rest of my body. She said that if I had DVT, that motion would make it hurt really bad, and it did not. But I can't shake this feeling that something is wrong. I have been on and off birth control for 10 years, and I am a former smoker. I am going to the doctor in two days for an ultrasound. Do you think I can wait until then to ask him about it? It has actually gotten better, but I still can't cross my legs. My friend said it was probably some sort of circulation problem.

Hi cindernar, I was diagnosed with an extensive DVT when my son was 5 weeks old. It started with a pain in my abdomen and back so I had a warm bath to try and relax, it was then that I realised that my leg was a slight purple colour. The next day the pain in my abdomen was worse , I couldn't stand up straight and it hurt to walk. When I got to the doctors they gave me blood thining injections and rushed me to hospital where I had to stay for a week. I was also on blood thinning medication for a year. You are doing the right thing by getting it checked out, it's alot better to be safe than sorry and DVT is nothing to be messed with. By the time I got to hospital the clot that started in my ankle had spread to just below my heart, so I was very lucky they diagnosed it when they did. How far along in your pregnancy are you? Anyway Best of luck with it all and let us know how you went at the doctors.

Well, I'm only about 7 weeks along. I'm beginning to think it's not DVT, although I'm still going to get it checked out. Last night BOTH of my legs were bothering me. I figure, what are the chances of me having a clot in both legs? I'm not having any discoloration. My gosh, it sounds like you were extremely lucky. Do you have any other problems or issues now? Are you on meds to prevent it in the future?

Hi again, Yeah it doesn't sound like DVT, not that I'm an expert, better to get it checked for piece of mind though. I am 17 weeks pregnant with my 4th and will have to go on blood thinners after I've had my baby. They decided not to put me on them during the pregnancy because the clot happened after Ryan was born. I also find that my left leg will swell ocasionally because some of the valves were damaged. I am a bit paranoid about getting another clot so my doctors and I are keeping a close eye on things. When are you getting it all checked? Let me know what they say.

Hi Nadine-B. My doctor told me yesterday that he was not concerned that it's DVT, but just regular pregnancy leg achiness, etc. My friend who had preeclampsia has been preaching to me about my salt intake, so I'm going to try reducing the salt and see if that helps. I think I'm probably just not drinking enough water as well. Thanks for your help. I hope everything continues to go well for you during and after your pregnancy!
