Manual Handling

Hi, I was wondering if someone could advise me. I am in the first trimester, really too early to tell people but I am a support worker with adults with disabilities, and some of my job includes hoisting, dressing, pushing wheelchairs etc. Is this safe for me to be doing? Many thanks

Hoisting people around is not safe. Heavy lifting should be avoided. Otherwise it is ok to take care of people. Try not to vacuum, I've heard lots of horror stories of miscarriages seemingly brought on by vacuuming. I don't know if it has any bearing but better to be safe than sorry. In general, if you feel it is too much then it is. Many women continue to jog and run until it becomes too uncomfortable. Talk to your doctor about your work and he'll tell you what is safe and unsafe. Good luck!
