I hear this strange clicking/popping sound too! Several times a day, just above my navel area, after I eat something. It started after doctors were able to turn my breech baby around into the normal (head down) position and wonder if it has anything to do with this. My doctor and all other medical professionals have no idea and look at me as if I am from outerspace. They did a half hour ultrasound to look at the baby, who seems to be doing fine. I was suprised, and somewhat relieved to find someone else with the same symptom! By the way, today is my due date, so wish me luck!

I just heard this noise last night for the first time. I am 35 weeks, and the baby was moving around alot, felt like she was grinding her head into my bladder (ouch!). About 4 different times, i heard a loud click (almost a crunch). it was really weird, but I'm not worried, as everything I've read says its just one of those unexplained "things"....

I am 38 weeks pgt and have been experiencing the clicking sounds from my right hand-side when baby moves - relieved to hear others are experiencing the same. Seems odd the medical profession know nothing about this!

I am almost 34 weeks and I have recently started hearing a popping sound come from my stomach as well. At first it terrified me, being that this is my first pregnancy. Shortly afterwards, my baby kept moving and so I stopped worrying as much. I now hear the noise at least 5-6 times a day and it is when I am resting (either lying or sitting) and the baby is very active.

I have been hearing this noise to for about a month now. I'm 37 weeks pregnant and I told my doctor last week and she said she never heard of that before. She told me to talk to my pediatrician about it. She said it could be something wrong with the babies hips. I didn't let what she said worry me because I always hear the noise coming from different spots below my belly b___ton and I don't think his hips are there.

Thanks for the post!! I have this same thing! I called the doctor. I wondered if maybe my 34-week fetus had broken a bone or something...Even my husband noticed the noise! It sounds like a bone popping (a noise that a pregnant woman probably isn't totally unfamiliar with)..

Im 34 weeks and heard the popping noise for the second time last night. It sounds like when you are swimming and crack your fingers under water! So I a__sumed the baby's joints crack occasionally when she moves.

Hi. I am 36 weeks and 5 days and I have heard the sound before, but I wasn't worried because the only logical answer that I could come up with was that it was the baby going into my pelvis and the pelvis probably pops from the pressure.

Hi Tiffany, mine are definitely higher up. It does sound like a clicking bone in water. Other times I think it's just the baby pushing on another organ, such as the stomach when it has fluid in it. Such a mystery hah? I'm glad I'm not alone though...

Since the last time I responded to this post, I have visited my doctor twice. She told me that the noise is actually my ligaments stretching to make room for the baby to move and adjust his body weight. She explained the noise to me exactly even before I had the opportunity to tell her what the noise sounded like. I was relieved to know that I am not the only one of her patients who have heard this noise. I do feel sure now that my baby is still ok. His little bones are not breaking! Good luck to everyone during your remaining weeks of pregnancy.

my cousin had this and it turned out her baby had weak hips and was dislocating them as she moved around. The baby got treated when born. This is rare though.

hmm interesting. I had read something about hip dysplasia (sp?) also. My sounds are always a__sociated with a strong movement from the baby, so it might be that the baby is stretching the ligaments when he/she kicks. Gosh, I can't wait to find out if I'm having a girl or boy - it's starting to kill me, but it will be worth it in the end. When are you all due? I have a c section scheduled for 7/18

I am pregnant for the third time and I have heard these noises with every pregnancy (with the possible exception of this one). I can tell you it is definitely not your baby's joints. It is a very clear, crisp cracking noise with no a__sociated sensation. It most often occurs with movement of the baby and is experienced in different spots. It is probably related to the amniotic fluid and sac. This time I have had a few times where I have actually felt something but this is always when the baby kicks the large intestine and the accompaning noise is more muffled meaning its probably an area of gas. But that is differently entirely than the popping noise most women seem to be describing. I heard it most myself during the first pregnancy, less during the second, and maybe once or twice this time. Thankfully! It drives me crazy!
