Wow, this is really strange. I just ate some food, came down stairs, and then sat down to watch TV when all of a sudden I started to hear a strange popping noise from my stomach. I could slightly feel something when it happened but not much. It sounded like the noise from cracking knuckles or a clicking toungue. It didn't stop after a bit so I came on to the computer and looked up "Stomach popping noise." I feel out of place though. And Why?
Because I'm an 18 year old male and this noise seems related a lot to pregnancy!
It must be the ligaments. I figure I ate to much or something (I had a very large bowl of cereal) and maby my stomach was getting room made for it. That is the only thing I can think of. I am going to have to look into this more because now I am very interested in it's cause. I'll get back here if I find anything else. I hope I'm not pregnant:o lol

I am 34 weeks and have heard the clicking/popping. I attributed it to me popping somewhere that is muffled now with my belly. I also feel bubbles in my lower belly when the baby moves. I don't think they are the baby, but i guess it could be fingers.

I am 38 wks +3 days and I have heard the same clicking noise in my lower belly for the past couple months. I was sitting in front of my husband one time when it happened, and I asked him if he heard the loud pop, and he replied "yeah, didn't you just pop your knuckles," (because I am all the time popping fingers and toes since I've been pregnant) and I said "no, that came from inside my belly, and he couldn't believe it at first at kinda got worried for a second that something was wrong with the baby. We forgot to ask the doctor about it last week, but we go in later today and will ask. I have been hearing it more freguently here towards the end, now that she's getting bigger, and seems to be trying to bust out! I figure that she's probably stretching my ligaments beyond belief, but I just wonder why that would cause a popping noise. Everytime I hear it, she's squirming around like a fish, and I just figure she likes to pop her joints like her mother. lol :)

OMG, Jay, you are a funny guy. Okay, my daughter is two months old now, and sometimes her shoulders make the sharp cracking/popping noise I heard while I was pregnant. It's the exact same noise my shoulders make sometimes, but I feel absolutly nothing when it happens...so weird...but really, for all you worried moms-to-be...DON'T WORRY! Good luck to you all!!!

Maddie - as you can see from all these posts, this is obviously not so uncommon! And not so humorous for those who are clearly concerned about it. Lucky you who haven't had these symptoms!

I am also happy to read all of these....Thank You KH for getting this started! This noise started around 28 weeks for me. I was sitting at night watching TV in peace & quiet from my Hubby & 3 yr old. And heard a click....Like being under water and hearing a joint click or also sounds like clicking your fingernails together. High pitched almost!! So after hearing it a few days off & on I called the ob office. A midwife called me back and said it must have been "gas bubbles" that I was hearing. Getting off the phone and being sure it wasn't this...A few days later after hearing it more frequent maybe 6 or so times a day and always with the baby moving. I called back and asked to speak to a doctor not the midwife...Got a call back and she said she has had other people say they have heared this sound and she said her best guess would be that it is the Babys hips popping in and out of socket and to let the babys doctor know and they will check it when shes born. I just feel awful that it is because I don't rest enough.....with a 3 yr old at home.......They all say its not the case and that she may be fine when shes born and if she does have hip displesia it should be just a brace she would have to wear for a little while!!! So I am releaved a bit now!!! Thank You All!!! Good Luck!! My Due date is Feb 1,07 so if I have any news I will try to list it for people in the Future!!

Thank you all for your posts, I have been hearing the same noise for two weeks now (I am now 33 weeks along). It used to drive me crazy b/c I couldn't find anything online about this until now. My doctor told me it was my baby's knee cracking. He was not concerned but he did not make me feel comfortable about what he said. “The kid is not born yet and his bones are cracking?!?!” - I thought to myself. I am much relieved now knowing I am not alone. Hope this website does not remove the post since you can't find anything about this phenomenon in the medical sources. They should do some research on this.

I am 32.4 weeks pregnant. I have also been experiencing the clicking/poping noise for at least a couple of weeks now. It scared me the first time I heard it, but my baby is moving fine, and everything has been fine with me, and the baby so, I don't worry anymore. I heard it about six times in an hour this morning when I was lying still. It is only when the baby is active, and I am sitting or laying still. It is in the right upper hand side for me. I asked the nurse practioner today, and she said she had never heard of it. She went out into the hall and asked one of the doctors, and he also said he had never heard of it. I am going to take a copy of this forum into them in two weeks at my next appointment so, they all don't think I'm crazy. I'm glad that this is here. Otherwise I wouldn't be able to find any other information on this. Thanks! =)

Yeah-i am also glad that this blog is here. I have been hearing clicking sounds inside my womb for a few weeks on and off-was thinking i may be giving birth to a dolphin! To the amus____nt of my husband-who thinks i'm making it up! I knew if i brought it up with my docotor shewould just shrug it off-i tend to find doctors generally inept and untalkative-as opposed to the midwives who are always fantastic and fullof advice and information. I am guessing that the clicking is just air bubbles or something-I am 31 weeks gone and the baby keeps on fidgeting regardless!
