Does 1 1 2 Day Period Mean Pregnacy

Does a short period mean pregnancy? I had a normal period July 4th. I had unprotected s_x with boyfriend on July 13 - 15th without him pulling out several times. Since I've been having pregnancy symptoms. Slight cramping mostly on the right side of uterus, tired, headaches, increased sense of smell, back aches, hip pain, slight br___t pain, nausea (gagged a few times) and hot flashes, feeling twinges and pinches only on the right side of my uterus (never happened before). I took hpt on the day before, the day of and the day after AF (August 1) was due, all negative. 3 days later I had a 1 ½ period, normally my period last about 5 days. My pregnancy symptoms continued after my short period along with very mild cramps, sore br___t, mild hip pain, mild lower back pain and some pulling sensations under belly button. Took another hpt on August 13 and it was negative. My sciatic nerve pain was so bad that I called my OBGYN because a few months ago my doctor through a physical exam suspected that I might have endo, so I thought due to having really painful hip, lower back and sciatic never pain I thought the endo had spread. I told them over the phone what’s been going on with me these last few months and they don’t seem to think that my 1 ½ day period was a “period” and told me that all the hpt I took my have been taken too early. They urged me to go in early last week to take another pregnancy test and was told if that come out negative that they would send me to go get a blood test because my hcg levels may be low. Since my 1 ½ day “period” was on August 4th my next period would be due that past Saturday. I decided to wait until after this weekend and see if I get my next period and if so what it’s like. I did start bleeding Monday morning and by Tuesday afternoon it turned into very light spotting and it’s almost gone today. So I’m confused is there a chance I can be pregnant? Side not: I had an ultrasounds (internally too) back in April and it should nothing unusual. Had several blood tests including for thyroid and they all came back normal.

You had unprotected s_x in the fertile window, followed by preg signs and light periods. Very rarely a pregnancy will not give a positive until 8 weeks. Take another test and then call the doc anyways to get a better explanation of what is happening with the body. GL!

Hi, I have similar situation. I went off the pill at the end of Dec. 2011. My husband and I want to start trying. I been having regular periods it usually last 4-5 days. In July my period came 2 weeks late (lasted 3 days), but I was having all the pregnancy symptoms the week that I was suppose to have my period. I took 2 pregnancy test and it all back negative. Then my period came so I decided that I was not pregnant. In August my period came a week late too and it only lasted a day and a half. Am I pregnant or is my period just getting shorter?

Something is getting out of kilter and it is too long after for pill withdrawal. Your early pregnancy signs did not continue after the period week. Maybe you are a candidate for temperature charting which will better pinpoint whether and when you are ovulating. This will help the doc if you end up going for a fertility consult. Best of luck!

Thanks Grandpa Viv, Well all of my symptoms have still continued with more lower back and mild abdominal cramps. Early this week I started getting little hard lower belly and started looking pregnant at the same time I also started getting sharp b___st pain and while ma__saging my b___st I started leaking clear kinda yellow sticky tined discharge, looks like colostrum. At this point I would be around 11 weeks pregnant so these symptoms seem on track so I finally got over my fear and took a pregnancy today...but it came out negative. I am so confused and heartbroken. I have no idea what can be going on.

Tiny, you probably need to go back to the doc and ask about a cyst or other reason for the changes you are seeing. Best of luck!
