I think I'm the exception. I actually got pregnant a few days after my Depo shot was due. I've been on the Depo shot for three years. It was due August 24th and in mid September I found out I was pregnant.

I have been on the Deop shot for like 4 years now... I am thinking of get off it. If I exercise too hard which isn't very hard I go from one mile of faster walking on the treadmill to 2 miles at a time and it never fells if I do that for a few days I will have ovaries pains and bleed a little for a day or so. Does anyone else have this?
Also I think they overdosed me on one visit. I had a new nurse the next day I was so depressed and it last at least a couple of weeks and I was at the breaking point.
My ovaries feel very odd lately... as if I am trying to menstrate but don't.

After I had my first son I got the depo shot, ONE time and within a month I gained 56 pounds. So I did not get another shot. A few months pa__sed and then I went on the pill for a short amount of time and stopped so we could try to get pregnant, and it took me over 2 years to get pregnant with my second son, who is now 3 months old. I would say it was probably 5 months after I got the shot that we started trying (I knew it was going to take a while, I thought six months, not over 2 years). But every girl is different. Your body will react differently. I hope you do get pregnant soon, it was very hard on me every month, so good luck to you and your husband.

I was on Depo for 8 years. I went off August 2006 and immediately started ttc. I bought an ovulation predictor kit last month to help pinpoint when I was ovulating and also bought Preseed lubricant which is sperm friendly and helps keep the sperm alive. I got my bfp last month after 11 months of trying! Best of luck to all of you! It will happen.

I come off the depo in the December and i found out I was pregnant on the 16th Feb, and i had been on it for 4 years. So I do not believe any of these stories of how long it takes. I think it is all down to your body.

I believe that it all just depends not only on your body but what your body is doing at that particular time. I was on the depo for 4 straight years and decided to try and get pregnant, so I didn't go back for my depo that was due in August 2000 and (no lie) by the end of September 2000 I was pregnant (with twins). And on the other hand after having my twins I started back on depo, got off of depo in early 2004 and I didn't get pregnant until 15 mths later. So not only does it depend on your body, but also the moment. Good luck to all!!

i was on the depo for 4 years my last shot was july 2006 it is now oct 2007. i finally got my period this last july and again in august but not in sept or oct so i thought maybe i was pregnant. ive taken 3 tests and they have all been negative. its been about 15 mo and no baby...i hope i get pregnant soon. its depressing when you younger brother comes over to tell you that he and his girlfriend are having a baby (they werent trying, i dont think they are really ready) and you are trying and want a baby so badly and its not happening :(

I was on the Depo for almost 3 years after having my son. We decided we wanted another baby so I didn't get the shot in Aug. 08. I still hadn't had any periods, so my doctor gave me 50 mg of clomid in Oct. I didn't get pregnant, but had a period, so I'm taking the clomid again this month. Hopefully it will work!

Not really helpful or hopeful, but thought I would share my story....
I was on the Depo for 3 years, had a 1 year break from it then went back on it for 3 more years.
I had my last injection on 1st July 2009, so it should have wore off by the end of September 2009.
My periods started again at the end of January 2010.
I got pregnant after my 2nd cycle (end of Feb 2010), but had a miscarriage at 8 weeks at the end of April.
Tried to get pregnant again straight after, found out I was pregnant again at the start of September, but have just had another miscarriage at around 6 weeks.
My doctor doesn't think that there is a link between my miscarriages and the depo, but I'm not convinced.

Ladies, we're all different:) I was on the shot for 2 years then went off for a year (got my period back within the next month after stopping my shot and going on the pill). After being off for a year I went back on the depo shot and have been on it since (3 years now). I haven't experienced any complications besides weight gain, and I'm not worried about being able to get pregnant when I want to. I'm 25 and have been on the shot since I was 18, so perhaps it depends a lot on the age of the woman that is getting the shot! :) Good luck to all of you that are attempting to currently become pregnant.
