Okay...Last night (or way weee early this morning) I took a HPT..Walgreens brand....Looked at it after one minute (so i thought) and thought i saw a teensy weensey faint line...almost sorta invisible...then i showed my friend who said "What?! i dont see anything"....then 9 to 10 minutes later...we looked under the light and it was plain as day +...faint but still visible...darker than when i looked at it before...i dont know. could it be an Evap line? or is it a positive? I am going to get a blood test today.

I took an Equate HPT today because I have been feeling nauseas, moody, and cramping 2 weeks after my period. I took the test and peed for the required 10 seconds and even after 3 minutes, the control window didn't have a line. It took about 15 minutes for the control line to appear. I saw the evaporation line shortly after. I took the test apart, just to be sure, and it was indeed an evaporation line...but when I put the test back together, the evap line was gone. I'm taking another test in the morning because I did this one in the evening, so if I were preggo, my HCG levels would be very low..and considering my period ended July 2, I could only be about 2 weeks pregnant at the most. BTW, I am on birth control so I am not trying to get pregnant.

I had such a faint positive line on my dollar store test that I almost threw it out LOL. That "faint line" now goes by the name of Leah and she's 3 1/2 years old :-D

Hi ladies, I am new here and was hoping somebody could help me. I am late for my period, had two negative hpts last week and tested yesterday afternoon with ClearBlue Easy (non digital). I am not sure if I got a faint positive or an evap line--the result was very very faint in the first ten minutes, but is definitely blue (not gray) on the vertical, however it is the thinnest line that could possibly show up on the test. I have tested with Clearblue before and received negatives but nothing like this....has anybody had a similiar experience? It is a definite line but the width (or lack of it) is really confusing me. Thanks for any answers!!!

I am new too. Not sure if I will be able to state this question correctly but I will try. Been on BC since I was 21 and am now 29. Last pack was in April and my Dr advised me to only be off BC 1 month before ttc due to history. So, the days in my cycle have always been dictated by BC. Went off pills and May to June was 32d. Regular AF in June and now I am 16d late. Have taken 3 hpts... 2 last Friday and one last night... all what I would see as negative... and still are. But, the one last night acted a little different. As it was working its way through the window, a very pronounced positive line showed up and then went away... then the negative showed up. Is this the normal way these tests work? No matter how hard I looked, there was nothing in the positive area. I was pregnant before and miscarried at 4 months but I do not remember it doing that (LONG time ago). Any advice? I am having a few symptoms (bathroom 1-2 times an hour, exhausted, grumpy, and OMG... bloated... nothing seems to be in the right place :)) and I know it is early. I know I could be playing tricks on myself but I was just wondering if I should head on to the Dr or am I jumping the gun. Thank you all for your experinces.

Okay...here is my story on the rather controversial evaporation line! I am currently not trying to get pregnant, as I have a 14-month old and I am 36 and undecided if I really want another one. Anyway, I had an appointment to get my hair colored yesterday, as I have serious gray roots, and I wanted to make sure that I was not pregnant because I had been having symptoms a lot like I did with my first pregnancy. I took the Dollar Tree test, which is the same one I took with my daughter and it was extremely positive, but I took it the day my period was due. It is now roughly 2-4 days before my next period. Anyway, I tested yesterday morning while getting ready for my appointment and immediately saw that it was negative, so I trashed it after about 2 minutes. Well, while getting my hair colored my scalp was burning like it was on fire and it has never done that before in all my years of having my hair colored by the same salon. Anyway, I thought it was strange so I went home and like many of you dug through my trash to look at the test. Well, there was a very very faint line that was the color of the control line, which is purple, so it looked anywhere from pink to gray. I thought well, it is probably just an evaporation line but after reading all of the above comments who knows! I will retest tomorrow and let you all know.

ok, don't know if anyone is on here anymore, but i came across this while trying to figure out what a evap line was. I took a test mid afternoon yesterday, waited a couple min. didnt see anything, and went about my day, well today, i came across that same test and saw a blue line, not defined but more like a really thin blue line some space then another thin blue line, it was like the other blue line, but just an outline, not filled in. So, of course i took the other one (2-pak) and nothing! I have symptoms (EXTREAMLY TIRES FOR ABOUT A WEEK) i should have started yesterday, but the 2nd test wasn't too long (couple hours) from my last pee. Whats the deal, anyone have an oulined blue line before? it was an walgreens Early results test. . .. help!

i had asked a question earlier and the guy said bc i waited 10 mins it wasnt right. i was scarred to even see a 2 lines. just hoping this makes you feel better i called the hospital today and talked to an rn and she agreed that if there is a line no matter if it took 15 mins to get there something is going on. i have taken many tests and never did i once ever get two lines. i go to the doctors monday hopefully it works out.

Hey guys.. I'm loving what I'm reading.. about evap lines being rare.. Here's my story.. I had a miscarriage in Oct. of 08.. Dr said we could try 3 months later.. So my last period was dec. 27th.. my cycles are 23 days.. I should have started on the 19th.. and didnt.. I went to the ER and had a blood test done on the 23rd and they told me negative.. last time me and my DH had s_x was Jan 12 so it may have been to early.. Well the 24th i started bleeding a little.. very light but I thought I was starting my period.. It never got heavier after 2 days and has now almost quit.. inever had to use a tampon just panty liner.. Anyways.. I took an equate hpt today.. and at first there was nothing.. maybe a super super faint line.. after like 2 hours there was a for sure faint positive.. But very clearly visible.. and pink.. both lines.. So do you all think Im pregnant?? I hope so.. I don't want to get overly excited.. But I really hope I am.. Good luck to everyone ttc!!!~ =]

I have taken 4 tests, and i dont know if they are evaporation lines or actual lines....I have read they do exist, but they are not that common...so im thinking if they show up that many times its a positive...and the reason i took 4 was because my first one turned right away, but quickly faded, I called the company and they said that if it turns at all its a positive, even if it fades, if it was a negative it would never read at all! Check to see what color the line was...for you...if in fact evaporation lines to exist, they won't have any color to them! they call it a ghost line, and if there is any color at all its not an evap line...cuz they are colorless or if anything have a gray color to them, won't be blue or pink at all! I have been researching for the past 3 days one this, cuz i am going through the same thing...i called my doctor and he is scheduling an ultra sound for friday!

Q: what does an evaporation line look like? A: evaporation lines look like a ghost line. They are always colorless! You can barely see an evaporation line and if the line has any color to it at all, then it should be read as a positive. I have taken 4 tests, the first one i took looked positive right away then it turned and looked negative about a min. later, so i called the number on the box and was like can you explain this to me, and they said it would have never turned in the first place if there was not anything there. And I would have never seen a line. So i went and bought box of target brand tests, and nothing happened till about 30-45min. later...the thing is they all got a second line that was bright blue and all took the same amount of time...Evap lines are not that common that's why people think they don't exist...i think they exist but only if you check the test after 24hours... the test strip is covered in plastic, it can't evaporate that much in a couple hours. Congrats...I also consulted with my doctor and He scheduled me for an ultra sound Friday. He even has high hopes...I have taken many tests in my life, cheap target brand and First Response. This is the first time i have ever seen a line show up after the 10 min. and it has happened on 3 tests...well 4 the one line on my first came back about 20 min. later very faint and pink. CONGRATS, go see your doctor to take the next steps!

Stacey let us know your result. Are you pregnant? I am in the same boat as you and am very curious to know. Good luck!
