Hi! I had unprotected sex with a girl I was dating on Sat. 04/11, and again on Thu. 04/16. She had her period, as she affirms, on Sun. 04/12. So, in theory, we had sex on day -1, and day 5 of her cycle. She has a 28-day-cycle. She is now pregnant and claims it's mine. I went to her first ultrasound on Fri. 05/29. GA showed 7w3d. Do you think the baby should be mine???? Please help me!!!

Interesting. Surely she has counted back to April 7th for her last menstruation based on the ultrasound. That date makes you a possible father as sperm from April 16th could have lasted until ovulation April 21st. Why is she then claiming her last period started April 12th. That date makes you unlikely the father as sperm would not have lasted until April 26th. Maybe she does not understand when conception occurs and is trying to make the numbers fit her notions. It would help if you could review with her the record she keeps of her cycles - either on her calendar or on an app she has on her phone.

Hi Grandpa Viv! Thank you very much for taking your precious time to answer my question. I see one possible way of making me the father of the baby. If she had her period on April 12, we had sex on April 16 (day 5 of cycle), and the sperm living 5 days, it could have reached April 21 (day 10 of cycle), and unfortunatelly she ovulated exactely that day (anticipated ovulation). Is it possible that a woman ovulates on day 10 when she has a 28-day-cycle? If that's the case, ultrasound thinks ovulation takes place on day 14, and throws lmp 14 days before, alias April 7th. Would that makes sense?
I have heard day 5 of cycle is not dangerous, since ovulation is not near and the cervical mucus is not there, but I can see I was tremendously unlucky!
I already sent the samples for a Prenatal Paternity Test. I hope to get the results pretty soon.
Thank you very much for your comments.
Regards.

Yes, I have heard of women ovulating CD10 even though they have 28 days cycles. I know women who became pregnant from sex on the last day of their period. The fertile days apps women download are based on averages for all women and I cringe when I hear women think of them as a form of contraception. It sounds like the Prenatal Paternity could easily give you a positive answer.

Hi Grandpa Viv! Many thanks again for your reply.
I have just one question. I hope you can give me a light.
If the Ultrasound on May 29 gave a GA of 7w3d, does it mean conception took place 7w3d before (April 7), or does it say conception took place 5w3d before (April 21)?
Many thanks in advance.
Regards.

Yes, the ovulation would have been 5w3d before, and since sperm can last 5 days inside the sex could have been as much as 6w1d before.
