I have a question for anyone who would be willing to help. I had been on depo for 4 years and have been off it for a year, so far no period, nothing. I have been to my regular doctor, trying to get a head start before my gyno appointment at the end of the month. I would really like to get things moving and want to start on clomid right away. I know from reading these threads that several of you have used it or are currently on it and I was wondering if anyone had any advice on what to tell my doctor to try to get her to give it to me as soon as possible. I have some issues that mean that I only have 2 years to have kids and my husband is not too keen on this whole thing so if the doctor is going to require that we do a s____n a___lysis before starting me on clomid (do they usually, I've read some women whose doctors have and some who haven't said anything about it) well that is just not going to happen. These next couple of months (my husband put a time limit on this) will be my last chance and I just want the best chances I can get. I would really like to have multiples since my dream family consists of 3 to 4 kids. We already have one son 4 years old on tax day, and we got pregnant with him when we were trying not to but now I'm just really worried that something is wrong down there and that I'm going to need some extra help. Any advice to my seriously long winded question/problem would be greatly appreciated.

Connsmom, I don't know anything about depo. I went to my doc and he required a prog test(accidently gave me clomid b4 the test- or maybe I wan't supposed to take it yet). I'd been trying for 7-8 months, but had 11-12 cycles in that time(some 21 days or less). He is very conservative so I knew he wouldn't give the clomid to me for twins. I didn't care if I had 1 or 2 babies, just that it helped me. Basically clomid just regulated my cycle so that I ovulated properly and that is all it took. Since you haven't had a period, I'm a__suming that is probably your problem as well. You prob just need something to make you ovulate. If it were me and my doc, I'd just say 'I'm not ovulating and I haven't had a period in a year. Hubby put these restictions on me.... so I'm running out of time.' I'm a very honest person so I would just tell him what you need and if he doesn't help, then I'd get a new doc. Have you had any cancer screenings and such to make sure nothing is wrong? From what I've read, its usually something small like a hormonal imbalance that is keeping you from ovulating and having a regular cycle. Hope that helps some. Also for all you ladies with insurance. Most insurances won't cover fertility meds or delivering a baby concieved on those meds. Aetna and Blue Cross are the ones I've checked into(aetna last year and blue cross this year).

Thanks for the info. I really appreciate it. I wasn't trying to say that I wanted to be on clomid to get twins or any other multiple, I meant I would like it and I'm not opposed to it so that as a side effect didn't bother me. I have tried taking herbs and such that are supposed to get things regular since I normally avoid the gyno like the plague. I guess I can see the clock counting down and just want to go into this next doctor's ppointment armed to the teeth so I can get what I want.

Consmom tell your gyno your periods are abnormal and that you have been trying to concieve for 2 years or you can buy clomid off the net like some of us have just read up on it cause of the side effects good luck!

About the insurance thing. I have BCBS and I called to make sure that Clomid was covered under my plan and it is, also the only fertility help that it doesn't cover is IVF, but I have Federal BCBS so this might be different than other ones I know I don't have the deductibles that some of my friends do on different BCBS plans. And Schar thank you for your input. I'm kind of freaked out to try the u/p clomid because since I'm not ovulating now, how could I be sure it was working and since I haven't had period in forever

consmom you can try progesterone cream to get it to start use it 2x a day for 10 days see what happens

thank you schar. Do you have to have prescription for progesterone cream or can you just buy it at CVS or do you need a prescription but can get it without one?

you can get it without one at walmart cvs gnc has it for sure I wouldn't take it after period starts though but you should ovulate after it starts try putting it on 2 x a day and increase to 3x a dy if your really anxious. u/p clomid has worked for lots of us i'm taking it now u may want to ask some people or look it up as long as u take a low dose on days 2-6, 3-7, 5-9 and do your research I think u will be fine and your doc won't know u took it good luck
Well ladies I am looking into Pergonal which increases your chances for twins up to 18%+ more than clomid you can get it online no prescription so if clomid doesn't work i'm gonna try it I know it's risky but i'm doing my research I'll keep u updated!

connsmom, I was prescribed Clomid for my DS (second baby) because my periods where very irregular coming off the Depo shot. I had only been on it for approx 7 mths before we started ttc. I went to my doc and said we had been trying to conceive since dd was born and he said try one more month and if nothing happens then I will put you on Clomid. One month went by and we did not get pg so I got Clomid. Didn't concieve that cycle, but did the next with ds who is now 1 year old. I would just say you have been ttc for a year or so and nothing, and you don't want to wait anymore. If your doc won't help you, find another one. I didn't have to have any tests done before getting the clomid. It all depends on the doctor. Since DS my cycles have regulated and become perfect to the tee 28 day cycles. The body can be so strange sometimes. Oh and my insurance did not cover the Clomid, but it covered all of the costs incurred for prenatal checkups, blood draws, and my c-section delivery. So I wouldn't worry about insurance too much.

Schar there you are. I was getting worried. Is Pergonal an injectible? I don't know if I would dare do that myself. I am not a big fan of needles.
Good luck with your bding in the next two days.

Thank you Bryandi. I guess with the time crunch and my best friend having twins 5 months ago (totally natural, first pregnancy 2 boys) I'm just super impatient and don't want anything to slow me down. I checked with my insurance and everything is covered, even clomid, but I think I'll use the generic since it's only $10 compared to around $50.

Bryandi*** Pergonal is an injectable that docs give patients to inject themselves u just have to know when to do it
If I do not get pg this month I may try it

So, after much research (for about three months) I've decided to TTC twins! I'm nervous about it because I've had a c-section before, but my cousin (who is in her second year of residency) a__sures me that a twin pregnancy in a woman who is at least 6 months post partum after a c-section, is just as risky as someone who hasn't had one... I'm about 9 months post partum.
The regimin I've decided to follow is 100mg clomid day 3-7. I will take 81mg of baby aspirin everyday until I get a + test result. I will start using OPK's on day 10 until I've had positive ones. I will continue to chart my basal temperature daily. I will take 200mg Guaifenesin starting at day 10 and ending at my discretion. I will take 400mg of folic acid daily, as well as a multivitamin. I will also use progesterone cream starting after I ovulate.
I'm excited, but very nervous!
