WHAT WEEK IS BEST FOR SAC, FETAL DETECTION

I would not have an ultrasound before 12 weeks pregnant. Before this, I feel it is just too early because many times the ultrasound cannot clearly show all that needs to be seen. This can lead to alarming results that are not even true. When I was pregnant with my first baby, I had an ultrasound at like 6 weeks and the doctor could not find the "fetal poles". So, he thought the pregnancy was not viable and wanted to do a D and C (abortion). Luckily, I did not agree with him since I had no signs of loosing my baby and I went to a different doctor. My baby was fine, and because the ultrasound was done so early, it was hard to see everything. I'm sure glad I didn't listen to that doctor, my son would not be here today! For my second pregnancy, I waited until 20 weeks. There is really no reason to have an ultrasound before this time. If you are pregnant, your pregnant. You don't need a ultrasound to tell you this.

I would have to agree with melissa, Before 12 weeks is kind of too early. Lots of women become freaked out because the doctor does not find a viable sac this early. Although some women do detect one early.
