How Much Time Between Babies

Hi I'm wondering how long should someone wait after they have a baby before having another? My girlfriend just had our first and we want to have more but how long should we wait? thanks

My first and second are 2 1/2 years apart. both boys. they are best friends. my second and third are 3 years apart. my third is a girl. she loves following her big brother's around. my second pays more attention to her. my first is 5 1/2 years older then her and gives her piggyback rides. I'm pg with my 5th (lost 4th baby in miscarriage) it will be 2 1/2 years younger then my daughter. Congrats & good luck to you and your girlfriend!!

My best friend has kids that are 11 months apart and they adore each other. It's really up to you guys to decide.

That is hard to answer. My husband and I have 3 boys, ages 5,4,3 and I am pregnant for our 4th(a girl) I wouldn't change a thing. Our boys are REALLY close in age and it is nice because they play good together, the older 2 have the same friends and are in sports together, they share clothes...etc. It was hard when they were younger- 2 kids in diapers at the same time was a little expensive! But now they are older and it is a lot more fun. It is easy to find age appropriate activities they all can enjoy together. It's completely up to you, but I think the closer, the better. Good luck!

my 2 kids have 18month apart. a girl and a boy. i woudnt change a thing either. it's great. ofcourse they dont always get along.LOL
and we may try for our third.

i know this girl that had s_x and got pregnant a week after she had the first one. i think thats crazy, but it can be done if thats how you want to do it.

i agree js. i totally agree. if my husband came like 10 feet from me intent on 'gettin some' before my 8 weeks are up, or i felt better, i would probably knock him the hell out with the first available object. but some people just can't wait, or whatever. i don't know how the girl does it, i mean, come on, it hurts even months after having a baby sometimes!! and i think it's totally disrespectful to a woman's body trying to recover then trying to do it with her before she even stops bleeding? no respect. but people do it. plus you setting the woman's body up for infections. the womb does not fully close after birth for many weeks.

My mom had me and a month later she was pregnant again, she lost the baby in miscarriage though...something with oil paints. It can be done though.

My husbands 2 kids with his ex wife are only 9 months apart. I would not suggest this. Try to conceive maybe after your child is about 1-1 1/2 yrs old

Me and dh want more kids, I'm preg with our first. Breast feeding, if that is all you are doing, sort of works as a contracptive - for a while. Once your body gets things worked out and can handle the nursing AND having another baby, you can concieve again. This is probably what me and my dh will do. Dh's two sisters are 14 months apart. I plan to bf on demand and let my body figure out when it's ready again.
