After the baby is born, I'm sorry I should have said that. My mind is just racing right now of what to do once the baby gets here.

Hi beachbabe9151. First time dad here, and my daughter is 7+ weeks now. Good news is, you'll figure the "how" part easily.... All I can tell you is that be patient in the first few weeks. They are tough because the baby needs constant attention! Yup, lots of work while you're also recovering from birth..... it's exchausting and demanding, both physically and mentally. Try to sleep when the baby sleeps as repeated sleeplesness can drive you nuts. If any members of your family offered help, take it! While you are at the hospital make sure you ask the nurses all the questions about feeding and changing etc. Baby tends to sleep a lot in the first few days then starts to get fussy about 2 weeks after birth. I found a lot of help in the baby 411 and "happiest baby on the block" books. On the plus side it's the most incredible thing you can experience and I imagine it's even more so for the mother. Things start to get better and better as the baby gets more mature.... good luck, and congratulations!

Hey - my 1st baby is 3 weeks old; I've noticed that it's actually a lot easier to take care of her than I anticipated, though it seems to be getting harder daily! LOL One thing I would recommend - I developed complications after delivery, and ended up staying in the hospital over a week. Because of that, food and stuff I had bought, anticipating a 3 day stay, went bad. So - stock up on food before having the baby, but make sure it's not perishable, just in case something happens.

I agree that you can never read too many magazines and books. If you go to www.AmericanBaby.com, there is a link to sign up and receive their magazine free for 6 months and each month they always have tons of great articles for babies of all ages.

I was scared too. I had my son 7 months ago. Just read anything you can get your hands on, and get as much rest as you can. Just do what you can to be prepared. Have plenty of clothes, diapers, blankets. And make everything easy for you to get to. Your first few weeks home you will be too sore to search for things. While I was still in the hospital, my sister came to my house and cleaned it all nice for me. You should drop that hint by someone. Don't worry theres nothing to be scared of.

My eight and ninth month of pregnancy were really hard for me. I thought I was going to be pregnant and miserable forever. Once the baby arrived, I was so happy and felt every drop of miserableness (I know its not a word but hey) was well worth the arrival of my son.
