since there's no general postartum forum i thought i'd ask you ladies. any of you tear during delivery? i did and got some st_tches. lately they've stopped hurting and started feeling itchy. does that mean they're gonna fall out soon? any of you have any suggestions how to make them stop itching? i don't want to tear them out on accident. it's been a week and a day since the delivery. sorry if this is tmi.

Hi Shannon, my baby is 11 weeks old and I did tear during delivery and got a few st_tches, they actually hurt a few weeks and itched on and off, all part of the healing process, it sort of comes and goes. I use tucks pads with witch hazel and that seems to help with the discomfort. At my 6 week checkup my ob said I healed well, but sometimes It does sort of ache down there and still itches from time to time. It just takes time I guess. My st_tches were dissolvable and I am pretty sure you will not be able to tear them on accident. But definitely tucks pads help. Congratulations!

I had my baby a little over 2 weeks ago and the itching is driving me crazy!!! I think the itching is a sign of healing. I know the st_tches just disappear the nurse said you may see some in your pad.

What degree tear did u get? i got 4 degree which is also called episitomy and it's worse than any..i still have them while they told me they will disolve..i don't feel pain much as i did at the beginning but still not totally comfortable..i used sitz bath, tucks pads, and pain reliver sprays..

I don't know the degree but this is my second baby so I don't think it was too bad. She told me I had just a bunch of little st_tches. With my first I had about 10 st_tches.

I was given hydracortisone (sp?) cream at the hospital and It was wonderful for the itching and burning.

You sound lucky Shannon! I tore in 3 places when I gave birth to Asjani and my st_tches were painful for 3 weeks! At around the 4th week they got itchy and that was about the time they started feeling way better! The tucks pads worked, as well as that numbing spray. Apply heat and then cold. Some of the st_tches will fall out, but most of them dissolve. At my 6 week check up the dr. said that I healed well..and now 6 months postpartum I feel brand new. Thank God...Asjani needs a little brother one day.

I had my baby a month ago by c-sec..but before that I was trying to have it naturally and i had an episotomy..I have tried not to touch myself down there b/c just to think about it gives me goosebumps and for some reason it feels like the stiches are still there, something feels different..do any of you ladies know if I should be feeling normal again after 4 weeks? I am so paranoid about the whole episotomy thing..

another question for any of you who have had s_x, did u wait until you stopped hurting or until the st_tches were out? my doc says it's ok to have s_x anytime i feel up to it, but the idea of doing it while i still have st_tches in makes me nervous. i'm not sure what degree i tore either, but the doctor who said it was just "a little tear" on my left side.
