When s/he first started to sleep through the night? Matthew is only 5 weeks, so I'm not expecting it any time soon. Just wondering when I can look forward to it.

It depends on how much they weigh...the less they weigh, the more often they wake to eat. The first time your baby actually sleeps through the night will scare the c___p out of you...you'll wake up and it will be light outside and you'll jump out of bed, run to the crib and put a hand on the baby to make sure he's still breathing...then laugh foolishly to yourself as you realize he's slept through the night.

My son was almost 3 months old and he would sleep from 9:00 p.m. till 6:00 a.m. Now he is 5 1/2 months and he sleeps great. Most nights I cant keep him up past 7:00p.m,so he does sleep in until 7:00-7:30am. I'm very lucky he has always been a great sleeper!

My daughter is 4 1/2 months old now and she started sleeping through the night at 3 1/2 months. Jbear, I know what you mean. The first time she slept through the night I woke up and it was light out and I ran to her room to check on her.

How long does it take you guys to get them back to sleep when they wake in the night? Matthew is a "lousy sucker" like I said, so it takes him 45 minutes to eat, then usually another 20 - 30 minutes to get back to sleep. Needless to say, I AM TIRED all the time!

My son has just started sleeping through the night consistently. He is 3 1/2 mos. It was touch and go for awhile. He sleeps from 1am - 7:30ish. We are trying to shift that time to him going to sleep earlier, but he is not trying to change his schuedule. Ruthie, maybe you could start feeding Matthew a little bit bf he actualy wakes up. That way he never had a chance to be fully up and will go back to sleep quicker. Hope this helps. Jbear, that is funny. I sure did panic. Me and my dh both kind of woke up at the same time looked at the clock and ran to his crib. We could not believe that he had slept through the night.

Ha, mine was neally three before she slept thru at nite, she still woke in the middle of the nite for a drink, my 4 yr old still woke to come into bed with us a few months ago ( got her out of that) and now i'm not crossing my fingers with this one either,if she anything like her sister then i'm in for it, lol. She does however sleep most of the time, she wakes for feeds and goes back to sleep, and has about a 7hr stretch in the arvo til about 11pm then wakes again about 3-4 and i put her in bed with me and we go back to sleep til about 5-6, so i guess that's just as good!

I was going to say, babies sleep thru the night?! LOL! Mine is 4 mos on Saturday, and we get up two times a night to eat. I think my son will be more like Aja : ) I hear a lot of people with boys tell me it took, 6, 7,8 mos up to a year to get their little boy to sleep thru the night. The little men seem to have a harder time. Hope your son sleeps thru soon!

I'm not convinced on the weight thing either! My chunk weighs probably over 17lbs, and still I can forget about a night's sleep!
