Naval Ring

I'm 18 weeks along should I take out my belly ring? Can I hear from some of you that either left it in or removed it and does the hole close? Just wondering what to do.

I've had my belly b___ton pierced for almost 4 years now. I removed mine right when I found out I was pregnant. Yes, mine closed up. Not sure when I'll get it pierced again..

My hole got stretched...I took the ring out a year before I got pregnant, and now the skin is all stretched and ugly. :(

Jamie, how long has it been since you've had your baby...because right after I gave birth, I thought my skin was stretched and ugly, but now almost 7 months postpartum the elasticity of my skin has returned and looks normal.

4 months.

I forgot to mention - I had a c-section so I think I will hate my stomach for the rest of my life. The scar is hideous. It's a bikini cut but I still can't stand the thought that it's there.

Oh...didn't know you had a c-section. Eventhough I'm getting my navel re-pierced, it will only be for my husband's viewing pleasure, because now that I'm a mother it is definitely necessary that I carry myself a certain way. Before pregnancy I had so many crop tops...but now, I think I'd be embara__sed to walk around like that...It's funny, because I used to think skimpy was s_xy, but now I think keeping things to the imagination is MOST s_xy!

do you wear a ring now or did you let it close?

Jamie - December 1

I've always felt that way...I prefer to be dressed in such a way that I wouldn't care if my grandfather saw me. As a result, I'm considered prissy/preppy. LOL (Prissy from the rocker mama thread)

Toya - December 1

To Toya, yes mine is closed right now...would like to get it re-pierced this spring. Jamie, better to be called prissy and preppie than all the other words out there that a woman can be called...I think my husband likes my conservative look...he says I look professional.

Jamie - December 1

My husband says "natural" lol - and, I do agree with you, it's better to be prissy/preppy than some four or five letter word!

I'm pretty conservative also. Try to do everything in good taste. At least look like you looked in the mirror before you left. Sometimes you wonder.

I had mine pierced for three years before my pregnancy, and I took mine out at about 20 weeks a long as I still didnt have a tummy yet. After the birth my peircing did not close but like Jamies was stretched. My doc was the one who told me to take it out just to be sure no infection happened and got to the baby. hope this helps:) Erica

Toya - December 1

Erica, that is the exact reason I took mine out..I was so excited about my pregnancy that I did not want to risk pa__sing on any infection from the baby...I don't know what it is about naval rings, but they seem to take a long time to heal...do they ever completely heal?

Sin - December 1

i had mine in for about 7 years. I took it out when I was about 7 months along, it didnt close up and i put the ring back in after i had the baby and it looks fine. My doctor never said anything to me about it or about infections.
