i have a 4 mth old and he loves to stand( that is supported by both my hands). he's not content to just sit wth support. However, he seem to be able to take his own weight and is even 'walking' but has no balance at all. My mother in law was not so happy when she knew we did that. Said something abt bones not strong enough and will cause baby to have legs that ' are not straight'. Is this true? If so, why does he try to pull himself up all the time?

This is funny. My Mother in Law came to visit a few days ago and told me the exact same thing about my three month old. I really don't think it is going to make him "bow legged". I think that it will make his legs stronger. If his bones were not strong enough then they also shouldn't be put on there belly for tummy time. This is one of the many pieces of "advice" from my Mother in Law that I'm not listening to.

No it is not true and all the old fogies seem to think this, including my in-laws. I asked my ped and he laughed.

LOL My mom told me the same thing. Amaya is only happy when she is standing. Our doctor told us that it will not make her legs bowed. They are right now, but if you think about it all babys legs are bowed!
