To Vaccinate Or Not To

It can cause a much milder form. Afterall, with the oral, you are injecting a live, although attenuated antigen into the body. Not all immune systems are up to par, and some bodies have a difficult time killing off the antigen.

This milder form is also contagious to others who may come into contact with these persons.

Vaccines to not cause autism. Even if thimerosal DOES cause autism, most vaccines do not contain it, and for those that do, alternatives (thimerosal free) are available. The testimonies of parents who claim their child contracted autism from being immunized is NOT research! There has only been ONE study done that says there is a link between autism and thimerosal and it has been widely discredited, and numerous studies disproving it.

If there was no evidence that thermerisol is harmful, why remove it?

so paranoid people like you will finally be satisfied and do what is right, because then there is no arguement.

Psychometric Methods 101 .... "correlation does not imply causation". The process of elimination is often used when something is "linked" to another thing. Many babies who died of SIDS were in cribs with bumpers, so bumpers were "linked" to SIDS. It is now recommended that you do not use a bumper in your baby's crib. Process of elimination...

Oh, and there will always be that group of people that take such findings as "bumpers cause SIDS". Not that you do that, but many people do not know the difference and do not realize how weak the term "linked" really is.

Forget about Autism and the links real or imagined. The question is: If there was no evidence that thermerisol is harmful, why remove it?

~ to i will... - August 18

I might buy that if they stopped making crib bumpers because of links to SIDS.

because, the amount of people who actually believe it causes harm is causing more harm then the thimerosol does. If even 10% of the population decided against immunizations based on the fact that they believe thimerosol causes harm, that puts the general population at too much risk of an epidemic. Eliminating the fear means people will continue to immunize their children and make society as a whole more healthy. As you stated before, they can not force people to vaccinate, but they can make them more comfortable about the idea in attempt to make people realize there is no harm in it and it really is for the greater good.

~ - I answered your question about why they have removed it.

not that i said anything about bumper pads.. but honestly the government has no regulations against what is sold to the general public, only what they recommend. For instance, First Aid Kits.. only about 5% of first aid kits sold contain the proper supplies, in the right amounts.. the government has no control over that.. they can only specify what a "PROPER" first aid kit sould contain. Vaccines on the other hand, are not manufactured and distributed to the general public, they are regulated perscription type substances that are government controlled.. bedding is not.

That makes more sense in general, however it is known that thermerisol IS harmful and has been for several decades. I know you said nothing about crib bumpers but since I read all of the thread, I just used it.

Listen, I understand that many people aren't fond of some of what is used in the vaccines, but your first and most important job is to protect your baby. Deciding to stand your personal ground on food issues (ie animal products) is fine, but not in the care of your child. Children without vaccinations are SO much more likely to have poor body weights, health and overall see more sickness because they're not prepared for it. Laws are now coming into place that require children to have shots to enter school - how would you feel if your five year old had to go in and get dozens of shots because you didn't just do it when they were a baby? I'm all for moral grounds, believe me. But when it came to my baby's health, I chose their health over my petty animal product preferences. And just so you know, these vaccines protect against diseases that ARE still around; TB was JUST found in my area this week. I wouldn't be willing to take a chance on ANYTHING.

It is not known that thimerosol is harmful and it is still used in flu vaccines.

When thimerosal is degraded or metabolized, one product is ethyl mercury. Mercury in sufficient dose is neurotoxic, and probably more toxic in the immature brain.
