50 Efaced What Does This Mean

I went to the dr on 10/19 and she told me I'm 3 and a half cm and 50% efaced. My due date is the 25th of this month.......how much longer?

I'm due on the 25th, too!!! I'm dialated to 2, and 65% effaced. I think it means how much you've thinned. Like the distance the baby is to the actual exit...? You're 100% effaced when you're pushing. So is that the same thing as "dropped?" Does any of it REALLY mean ANYTHING?

You can be 100% effaced for several weeks and still not go into labor, your cervix will be at a ten before you actually start pushing. Until you start having contractions or your water breaks, thinning and dilating really don't mean anything except you are closer to the end, which could be days or weeks. I have been almost 4cm and over 50% effaced since 32 weeks and now am almost 39 weeks. I thought the same thing to, that I was getting close to because of these numbers, but like I said depending on how far along you are they really don't mean anything. But in your cases considering you only have days left to your due date you are much more likely to go soon. Good Luck
