Does it hurt if the Dr breaks your water? Do they give you pain medication before they do it?

You don't even feel it until you feel the water coming out. They did it for me while I was having a contraction, and I did not know he did it. Pain med depends on what type of birth you are having, but the water breaking itself is painless

I understand your concern I was nervous about how it would feel with my 1st but the ladies are right. I had to have my water broke with both of my pregnancies & I felt nothing when the Dr broke the water but all of the sudden, there was this huge gush of water & it was so warm like sitting on the beach & feeling a warm ocean wave.
