Cramping At 38 Weeks

I've been having serious cramps since 1am every 5 minutes. I went to the doctor and she said that my cervix was closed and needed to wait until later today. Could this be a sign of labor?

I've been cramping for three weeks and nothing is happening so I wouldn't get too excited. My doctor said its just my uterus preparing for the real thing.

It could be...but it could also be Braxton Hicks contraction. Welcome them...they are like stretching your muscles before you run a marathon. I had contractions every 5-10 minutes for over 24 hours and then I went to my chiropractor, got one adjustment and did have one more contraction for 3 weeks - when my water broke at week 40.

I have been getting cramps and pressure pains in my pelvis for about 2 weeks now. It comes and it goes, but generally it is in the evening. My doctor seems to think this is Braxton hicks. I never had these pains with either of other two children so this one is new to me :) The only suggestion that i can really offer is you will know once the real thing begins!! If you think that it could be a sign of labor then make sure you get to the hospital. Better to be safe than sorry. Good Luck!!!

I am having cramps in my lower abdomen and have back pain, but I am not sure if it's real contraction or false alert. I am 38 weeks pregnant
