Ashlie, yes I have gestational diabetes. I was diagnosed when I was 30 weeks and have been placed on a special diet for it. I take my blood sugar twice a day. I have been getting ultrsounds every two weeks since I was diagnosed. I am currently 39 weeks. My baby is measuring big. My due date was originally October 4th but due to her size it changed to the 21st. I should expect about a 9 lb. baby. My doctor told me that I do have an increased chance of a c-section but that you will be surprised what women can push out. For my one hour test my level was 170 and then for my three hour I can't remeber but all three of them were above the cover line. What was your one hour results? Don't worry abouy it too much. It really is no big deal because you can control it through your diet. Keep us all posted!

Ashlie, I fasted from 8:00 the night before the test so it was about 12 hours. Did your mom or anyone else in your family have gestational diabetes. Please dont get scared or worried over it. It really isn't that big of a deal. And you may like to hear that you usually will not gain that much weigth with it. Most people will actually start to lose weight once they are diagnosed due to the diet and the diabetes. I was diagnosed at 30 weeks and have only gained 4 pounds since then. My total weight gain has been 25 pounds which is pretty good. But don't let people scare you over it. If you take the diet seriously and follow you WILL be fine!

Hi Beth, Thank you soo much. Well the nurse told me not to eat at least 2 hours before the test, well I did and when I got there they said it had to be 12 hours, so I didnt get the test done today, so im gonna go back tomorrow morning and have it done. Im mainly just worried about having to have a c-section, that is my biggest concern. thank you again.

I have GD too. As long as you keep your blood sugars under control you won't need a c-sec. The diet isn't that bad either. I have been able to eat everything that I ate before. I just have to watch how many carbs I take in at one sitting and make sure I have at least 2 hours between meals & snacks. You should NOT lose weight while on the diet. If you do youneed to go back to the nutritionist and tell her you are losing weight. When you lose weight your body is burning fat for energy. Burning fat creates ketones in your blood which are bad for the baby. You should always still gain about 1 lb a week even on the diabetes diet. Youbaby should still gain a normal weight of about 1/2 to 1 lb a week. For my one hour test my levels was 179 and for my 3 hour test my fastng & 1 hour were good and the 2 & 3 hour were well over the limits. Good luck & keep us posted!
