I was just curious to know if walking really does bring on labor because I have tried the castor oil thing twice and it didn't work, I have ate the pinesapple and drank the raspberry leaf tea and didn't work and i have even tried the s_x. I know i must be close and am for sure dialating because I have lost my mucus plug and had a bloody discharge about a day ago. Please someone give me some advice I am really desperate my husband has to leave for Iraq again in a couple of weeks and the military hospital will not induce me until 40 weeks. I am currently 38 weeks tomorrow.

HI~ first of all I will be 38 weeks to and they are going to induce me at 40 weeks on July the 25. Is that when they will induce you? I have been dilated to one for nearly 3 weeks and my cervix just want thin any. I was told to walk and have s_x by my doctor my first pregnancy was the exact same and I did what the doctor said and still it did not work. I was told that none of the other stuff works from another doctor. I wish I knew something to do too I lost my plug as well but nothing seems to be happening. Maybe it will happen for you soon. Lots of Luck!!

I'm sorry, but your baby will come out when it's ready to. Sometimes even inducing labor doesn't work if the baby isn't ready. I realize it makes it hard being that your husband is leaving for Iraq soon, but really you've still got 2 weeks to go. (I'm currently 39 weeks... and in no hurry)

I think you are close to giving birth. Just be patient and continue walking. I had a C-section with my first baby. If you are able to have a normal birth, just wait!! I understand that your husband will be leaving soon, but your baby is important right now!! Don't try to rush things. When you look have your baby with you will look back and laugh at everything.

Dr. says that walking promotes the baby to drop lower and thus stimulating the uterus/cervix etc... I'm not sure about the pineapple/raspberry tea etc. My Dr did say that castor oil is not a great idea as in some cases it can cause the baby to have a bowel movement and cause you discomfort. Our prenatal cla__s did say that male ejaculate does have an effect on the cervix and can help soften it. There is also a study that states nipple stimulation (2-3 hours) stimulates the uterus to contract. I am 40 weeks pregnant and have come to the realization that this little being will only come when it's ready! Good Luck!

My dr wants to do this 'stripping the membranes' thing on me tomorrow, thats supposed to help kickstart things. I feel your pain though, my husband left for Iraq two months before our first baby, who is now 2, was due. I read in that book "what to expect when you are expecting" that the nipple thing doesn't work. Said something about having to do it for like, 4 hours a day!! I have a 2 yr old running around, no chance I've got 4 hours to do that... LOL

It sounds like baby could come any time now. Walking can help bring on labor, but not always. Try and hang in there, your baby will come out soon. Try and enjoy the last days of your pregnancy and the time you have with your husband before the baby arrives. Good Luck.
