Hey everyone.
I had my little girl Caitlynn on the 8th. 5 pounds 2 ounces. I was 35 weeks. Here is my story.
I went into the hospital on the 7th with strong uterine contractions. Since I was 35 weeks they only gave me a shot of Terbutiline to slow them down, but they were not going to go out of their way to slow them down if I was in labor. So I got the shot and the contractions became less painful, but they were still coming every 5 minutes. So they checked my cervix and I was 2 cm and about 50 % effaced. So they watched me for an hour or two checked me again and I was still the same. The doctor said to go home take a shower or bath and relax.
So I went home started a hot bath and relaxed a bit. Well getting out of the bath I sat down to go to the bathroom and my water broke. At first it was just a pop and water gushed out and then just trickled down my leg after that. So off we went back to the hospital.
We got to the hospital at about 5:30 and they started me on Pitocin to start up my contractions again, and I dilated to 5 cm. Well I ended up being 5cm for about 5 hours.... So they came in and told me if I didnt change in another hour they would do a c-section.
Well my mother was coming to watch the birth from 400 miles away and she made it to the hospital and I soon dilated to a 10. ( in about 20 minutes)
I had a high fever all throughout the labor so they wanted to get her out pretty soon.
Anyways... I dilated to a ten, and I pushed three times and she was out. The doctor did do a small cut but it was not as bad as I thought it was going to be. ( I got an epidural)
So my little girl came out 5 pounds 2 ounces, and 18 inches long. She did cry but wasnt breathing enough to completely keep her and hold her while I was getting repaired. They took her to the nursery and she has been there ever since.
Everyone who wants to have a baby at 35 weeks is crazy. My poor girl has to stay in the hospital for over another week, and might have a lung infection. Its soooo hard to have a baby and not be able to take her home when you go. I have never had such an experience or a rush of emotions good and bad.
I just wish everyone the best with their pregnancy and birth of their children. I just hope that anyone who wants to progress labor they do it when they are full term, or at least a week before the due date.
I cant wait until I can actually feed my baby, and I can hold her close to me.
I wish you all the best!
