Question: I'm currently 38 1/2 weeks and have been 3cm dilated, 75% effaced and my baby dropped and is at a -3 station since roughly 36 weeks. When asked about her "rules" of induction months ago, she said if my body was ready (ie dilation/effacement etc) and mother nature was cooperating, she would definitely consider inducing me. Last week she said my body was ready and could be any day now and would consider inducing closer to 39 weeks. Yesterday when asked, she said she would rather baby be at a -2 station before inducing. She's actually due 3 days after me with her baby and is being induced this Saturday but seems unwilling to set me up for the same thing! My mother flies back to Europe next week and will not be back until baby is about 10 months old so I was hoping to have the baby before then + my brother in law is having cancer surgery next week...was hoping baby would be here before then because of all this. My friend is 39 weeks, 0cm dilated and baby hadn't dropped but she went in to be induced last night! I think I'm just frustrated that I wait over an hour to see my OB and she's rushing out of the door after a 5 minutes visit without even answering all my questions! Sorry for the long rambling post - Am I being unreasonable!?!?!?!

Hi Dana,
I know how you feel my doctor is the same way he was always in a rush. I had my little boy a week ago and I was induced my husband went to the doctor with me the day before and we told him that my husband was going out of town and he asked us if we wanted to go ahead and we said yes. Just talk with your doctor about your mom only being in town for this time and hopefully she'll induce you. Good luck.
