I'm 39 weeks and 1 day. I left the doctor's office today. I'm -3 station, 0 dilation, and 40% effaced. How far away would you guys guess labor to be?

I would guess you still have a while. I was a loose one, 50% effaced, and a -2 station for almost 4 weeks. I'm finally a 2 and 75% as of yesterday and she stripped my membranes, but remember it's different for everyone, you could go into labor tonight.

you could be tonight or tomorrow ... or you could be another few weeks but let's pretend you didn't hear that. With my first child I was dialated for almost 5 weeks and they still had to induce me so don't hold your breath girl.

Yeah, I've stopped holding my breath. I'm at 40 week, was due on Monday. Getting induced next Wednesday if I don't have her by then. After my appointment today, and learning there has been no change in either dialation or effacement, I'm not even paying attention when I get contractions anymore, as I doubt it's going to happen tonight. Or even tomorrow.

Thank you all. It was just discouraging to hear "no dilation" after all the contractions I've been having and walking I've been doing.

Most OBGYNs say they can't tell when its going to happen.. they can see a woman in the morning and she has the baby that afternoon or 5 weeks later. Its just one of those things. Good luck everyone!
