You are having some contractions! I had the exact same thing when I went into labor... for a few days before I would have these period cramps on & off, here & there. They will get stronger and closer together & to the point that you will time them. Mine were about 10 minutes apart for 4 hours at a time & then they would stop. Then a few hours later they would start again, 10 minutes apart for about 3-4 hours then stop.. this went on for about 36 hours and then real labor started - they felt the same, but I just knew it was the real deal that time. I had my dd 20 hours later! Good luck & have fun!

yea i agree with lynn....ts like pre/early labor. jsut watch for the other signs. they tend to start in the back some and work around into the hips,groin, legs, and then go into the lower stomach. Watch your appet_te and your weight gain...iv lost wieght and my appet_te for the most part is gone..until 2 in the morning lol..so my doc thinks im anyday now...at least your closer your dialating, effaced and lost your plug...let us know when that baby comes into the world!

I am 37 + weeks and I am at 2 + cm and about 90 % effaced and the baby has dropped and is extremely low, I lost my plug last week and I have been having very bad contractions the past few days. I have very bad lower back pain (to where I can barely walk or sit for very long). Oh yeah the contractions have been about every 5 min for a while. I don't want to go to the hospital because they treat me like I am an idiot. I just found out my Dr is out of town and wont be back till the 3rd of Jan. How much longer is it going to be. The Dr said I will have this baby soon. Also do you have to have the bloody show right before you deliever or what? Please help.

I am too getting lower back pain. I am not looking forward to delivery if I have back labor being that I had major lower back surgery June of 2004. I may not be able to get the epidural depending on the scaring. Alicia- I too have lost my appet_te. But every morning around 2-3 I wake up and eat a bowl of cereal or pop tarts or something to that effect that really is not that healthy. And as for the hips, and legs. I will be standing up and it feels like I have a charlie horse from my b___t cheek down to my thigh. I just wish things would progress so I can get some type of rest and feel somewhat normal.

I had bloody show when I was about 7 cm when the Dr. checked me. I remember going to the bathroom and it was like normal clear discharge streaked with blood and it was never ending.

Ive been having period-like cramps for 4 days now...I was having contractions on Friday night for about 7 hours....its my second child and I know what contractions feel like. However, I dont remember having menstrual cramps with my first, and I never had any false labor. Im 38 weeks, and becoming more and more frustrated. I had my first 2 weeks early. I went to the midwife last week...the baby was low but I was only 1 cm....will I go into labor soon, or could this continue for weeks?????

Well I was at a 1cm 60% effaced about 2 weeks ago. Last week I was 2 cm and 70% effaced. And I am still waiting. I see the Dr on Wednesday, hopefully I am closer. I have had the cramping, which from what I heard could be from dialating, I have had very bad contractions off and on lower back and hip pain also. I just hope that when I go to my appt tomorrow they say wow you are at a 4 lets break that water. LOL

Well I had my baby on New Years Day. First New Years Baby of 2006. I am so happy. Baby girl 6 lbs 5 oz 18 1/2in long. I went in on New Years Eve and the Dr. on call does not believe in inducing another Dr. patient. I was in labor for 24 hours before she was born.The Dr. was on vacation and came back just in time to say lets have this baby. I was 4 cm and the baby was completely dropped so he broke my water at 9 am and she was born at 2 26. I pushed for like 45 minutes. She was the wrong was. By the way DO NOT GET STADOL while you are about to have the baby it is VERY BAD for the baby!!!! We just got home today (Jan 3) She was born on the 1st. Thanks Hope everyone has a happy new year.
