I'm being induced Thursday morning and I was wondering... for those of you that have been induced before, how long did your labor last? This is my first baby and we're going in at 5:30 a.m. but the nurse said they usually expect it to take around 8 hours the first time.

I was induced with my first because my water broke and I was not having contractions. My son was born 6 hours after they started the pitocin. They did not use the gel.

I had to be there at 7 am and I had my son in my arms by 6:57 pm, they didn't gie me the pitocin until 10:30 am though and get to a high enough dose until around 2 pm. With my second I had to have pitocin to help my labor pogress and I went in at 9 am and my second son was born at 6:56 pm, lol. I am curious to see what time my daughter will be born in about a week from now, also by induction. GL and congrats on your little one

I was induced with my second child, from the time they used the gel to the time she was born it was 4 hours, but it didnt seem that long, it went so fast.

I was induced around 4 p.m., and I didn't have my son until 3:30 the next morning, but he was transverse and ended up turning at the last minute. That tacked on probably 2-3 hours.

I was induced with my second child because I stopped having contractions after I was given some pain medicine. I went in to hard labor immediatly and gave birth 2 hours later, so mine went very fast after I was induced. I was in labor for 8 hours before they induced me though. I had pitocin. My sister had the the other one it's like a pill they insert into your cervix, and it took her 24 hours to have baby. So it all really depends on you and your body. If I had the choice though I would never be induced again unless ablsoutly necessary. For me the labor was more intense then my first baby.

I was induced at 7:00 am w/ pitocin, had my water broke around 9:30am - 10:00am and my son was born at 1: 21 p.m. so around 6 hours for me...a.nd I actually count from the time they broke my water because the pitocin drip really wasn't doing anything until they broke my water,..so really, more like around 3 hours.

with my inducement, I got there at six, got pitocin at 7, had my baby by nine. BUT I have really quick babies. Always have. And they're big. My first was born in an hour and a half natually after my water broke and she was ten pounds.

I was induced due to high blood pressure. I was 40 weeks + 4 days but showing no signs of labor. They had to give me cervidal to thin out my cervix at midnight. At about 2-3 am my water broke and had light contractions all night. At 8 am they checked and I was only 1-2 centimeters. At that point they added pitocin. I ended up having him at 7 pm so it was 17 hours. I think if you are progressing somewhat on your own it'll be a lot faster. I was just so happy not to be pregnant anymore and to see my beautiful baby boy.
