Can the doctor sweep your membranes if your cervix is closed?

from what i understand yes but it hurts more because they have to make a hole to get inbetween your cervix and uterus i think that my doc did mine today but she didnt say weither she did and im 4cm and it hurt more then normal im not trying to scare you im just telling you what i heard and what i just had went through today good luck
