Can you have a water birth with your first child?

im pretty sure you can, i tried having a home water birth with my first, but had problems with the birth so was rushed to hospital. might depend on what country you are in, im in new zealand and its ok here. due on the 14th fed with my 3rd and going to give it another go, but in hospital. ask your doc next time you go. good luck: )

Yup. You can, of course depending on where you deliver and who your care provider is with. The number of the birth (ie. first or third) shouldn't make a difference as far as I have been informed.

I wish I could do a water birth but they don't offer that here and I don't want to deliver at home, I'd rather be in the hospital.

oh, sorry but to answer your question, yet, you can do it with your first child, unless for some reason your doctor felt it wasn't safe for you and baby.
