With my second child I was 1 cm at 36 weeks, 2.5 at 37 weeks and I was 5 cm at 39 weeks when they finally induced me. So yes you can stay thjat way for a while. Wiht my first at 38 weeks they said I was 2 cm and could feel the babies head I delivered that weekend. It really all depends. You have to be dialating and effacing, effacing is the shortening of your cervix. Also the baby needs to drop down in the birth ca___l.

I'm in the same position, it's really frustrating! I didn't think I'd feel like this until I was overdue!! A midwife told me last Tuesday that I was in early labour (regular contractions and 2 cm dilated) but I think she must have got it wrong because nothing has happened since!! I really wish she hadn't said anything as I'm now expecting labour to start at any moment even though it could be a few weeks away. I guess they'll come when they're ready. Sorry I can't give you any advice, just thought I'd let you know that you're not alone!! Good luck.
