is it okay to take baths when you are dilated? I'm 37 weeks pregnant and dilated 2cm. I am miserable and want to lay in the bath tub - it's the only place i'm comfortable... wasn't sure if it was ok or not to take one cause of being dilated errr...any help would be greatly appreciated!

from what i've heard its only bad to take a bath if u have lost ur mucus plug coz then u wont 'notice' if ur waters break.....but im not certain...maybe u shud ask ur doctor

I would think it's okay. They put you in a tub while you're in labor, so it should be okay prior to labor.

my doctor said baths and s_x are fine until your water has broken :]

yes it is okay just because u are a dailated 2cms doesn't mean labour will start any time soon.i was dailated 1 to 2 cms with my kids and stayed that way for a couple wks.the water from bathe can't get into the baby because your water sacs are not broken

Bathing is perfectly safe. After your water is broken you will want to stay out of the bathtub until you are in active labor. After labor has begun then it is once again, perfectly safe to get into the tub.
