I burst the blood vessels in both my eyes during pushing with my first son and would like to avoid doing the same with my second labor - any advice?

I did the same with my second. Dr. said part of it was the position I was in (on hands and knees). I have heard that "vocalizing" will do it. too. I a__sume this means yelling.

Your uterus will push the baby out without you doing anything. You don't have to "push" so hard that you burst blood vessels in your eyes in order to deliver your baby. Women in comas or unconscious or drugged have given birth without any effort. Just take it easy and push when you feel the urge. Don't hold your breath and strain mightily. It's not necessary.
