Well it did not work...grrrrr....I went to the doctor today and im only 2 cm dialated. I was 1 cm last week so maybe the contractions pushed it to 2..

I'm 38 wks and 5+ days. 2 cm dilated and I took 2 tsp. of castrol oil at 10PM and nothing has happen so far, except that i got hungry and a few back aches...i tried s_x, nipple stimulation, walking, eating pineapples and nothing worked. so i'm just gonna lay off everything and get a pedicure tomorrow..lol..good luck to the rest of you expecting mums..

well I'm due today. no dialation and little efacment. i tried the castor oil at 37 weeks and nothing but diaria. i think i may try again today it tastes bad but i can handle that. maybe this time it will put me into labor. ive tried nipple stimulation, spicy foods, walking, red raspberry tea...nothing seems to work. i'll try this one more time and see how things go.

Well I'm due on the 14th and my doc suggested castor oil to me today. So at 12:45 I took 2TBSP mixed with oj. I just now am starting to have the whole bowel movement thing but...I'm not really crampy or anything at all. I was just wondering with those that have had a successful experiece was the onset of labor immediate or did it take a little while. Thanks!

christina-I took two ounces tuesday and it gave me mild contractions about 3 hours later along with some bowel movements the contractions started getting stronger over the next 5 hours and then fizzled out! P__sed me off so bad!

i took castor oil today at 11 am it is nout i also have a feeling that w half past 5, i did the bathroom thing about 4 times i am still feeling a little nauseated but i also feel like it might still work i am 38 wks 2day and 1oo% done i think it is worth it if it works will let you know

I used castor oil to induce my labor last Thursday on 07-07-05. With my first son it didn't work, but I wasn't dilated or efaced at the time I took it, and I only took 2 tbsp. I was exactly 38 weeks and already 3 cm (Which I had been for 2 weeks). After reading the responses from this forum I took 4 oz, the whole bottle (About 8 tbsp). It's easiest to get down when tooken by the tablespoon and holding your nose. After defuse the taste with a reese cup. I tried the OJ and it was just too much. I took it at 11:30, started having the runs (about 3 or 4 trips to the bathroom) and at exactly 3:55 pm I had the strongest contraction ever in life. It hit me so hard, I knew it was the real deal. I tried to take a shower, but the pains were hitting me every 2 minutes. By the time I got to hospital his head was already coming out. He was born at 4:50 pm. Perfectly healthy with an apgar score of 9. If your're dilated and your cervix is halfway thinned out, I believe that anyone would have a good chance at going into labor. With my first son I was in labor for 5 hours, this one 55 minutes, so if you had a previous quick labor be prepared ! Thanks everyone for the good feedback. Lisa age 24

Ok here is the god honest truth. I have 2 children with my first wife. My second wife is 39 weeks right now and we need to induce early so that I can be around when the baby is born. For my first daughter my wife used (she drank the whole 6 oz bottle with OJ)it at 40 weeks at around 5 pm. and around 11 pm her water broke with no warning, at around 1:30 am I was a father. The labor went very fast and there was no time for drugs for her, she was a little poopie/pukie AFTER the baby was born for a couple hours. The second time we figured not so much castor oil and guess what. At around 38 weeks she took some (about 3 oz this time) with OJ again. again she took it around 5 pm. We where sitting there like ok we know it works lets get ready to do this, so we wait. and wait. and wait, around midnight we where like well i guess it didnt work this time so we go to bed. Next thing i know around 2 AM we both wake up to a flooded bed. My second daughter was born around 8 AM. this time my wife had no poops or puking. for me proof is in the pudding 2 outta 2 babies born with it, it must work and her doctor told us about it so it has to be safe.

i am 36 weeks with twins and am so uncomfortable and frustrated. i took the oil last night and had bad contractions all night long. by the morning they were gone so i have took some more but nothing yet!!

Well i will be 36 weeks tomarrow and i can barely walk i am so uncomfterble..i have had a couple times where i was contracting, went to the hospital and they stopped them...so maybe i am further along then what they said? i dont know but i wanna give birth already..lol

I have a friend who's a nurse and she took it when she was pregnant; turns out she didn't know it causes separation of the placenta which is very dangerous to your baby. I wouldn't recommend it.

I came here read all the answers and sent my husband out to get some castor oil and oj. I took about six tablespoons mixed with oj. It did not taste that bad.. I am 39 weeks and almost 3cen.dialated. I took it at about 8pm and it is now 12:30 pm. I started going the bathroom around 11 and have just finished my fifth time in. My b___t hurts really bad. Dont think I can go one more time. Small contractions have started but nothing to call the doc about. I am not taking anymore if this doesn't work. It wasn't that bad but I can wait another week or so and get induced, or go into labor. It wasn't that bad if it is over. And I can say that I tried this and it didn't seem to work for me. I read online for hours before I tried this. Will check in tomorrow and let you know how it has gone. Good luck to anyone else who is trying. Ps. Get wipes for the bathroom before it starts.

I have to healthy boys that had no complications during birth and I took it with both of them. Now let me say that I had already been having contractions for a weeks with both and took it to help things along and to make sure I wouldn't poop in delivery. I am now pregnant with my third and am trying once again to help things along I took it last night at 9:30 and had good contractions til around 2:00am then feel asleep this morning I am still having them just not as frequent or as strong. With my boys I had them with in 24 hours of taking it and never went to the bathroom I haven't been that lucky with this one however I do feel like the pooping part is over. Wish me luck.

Ok. Well I wrote last night and am back to update how it went. I was up all night long with the runs. Really bad. I had contractions all night too. But after about 10 or so contractions I would have to poop and it was bad. I now have hemrroids, or there back due to my pooping all night long, It was really bad. I don't know why. Maybe I took to much. But I havent gotten out of bed all day, and when I do, within minutes I have to go again. This was a hard thing for me. I am really hurting. I go to the doc on Friday. Will let him know I tried this and how I WILL NEVER DO ANYTHING LIKE THIS AGAIN. Jamie

I am 39 weeks and 2 days with my 3rd child. I tried the Castor Oil 2 days ago and it didn't work at all. Just gave me diareaha for about 8 hours, and a very sore hiney! Maybe it works for some, but I would never try it again!

i had the castor oil again 2 days ago, i had alot more this time but had no contractions whatsoever and was left feeling very VERY sick for about 3 hours!! as impatient as I am i could never take this stuff again, in fact just thinking about it makes me reach!!
