Hello all, I am now 36 weeks..I work with a lady who is pregnant with her 12th child..yes 12th. She told me to ask for Nubain instead of the epideral. Has anyone used or know anyone who has used Nubain or Stadol in replace of the epideral. I want to believe my co-worker cuz she has been through labor at least 11 times.

How about going natural...? You would think after 12 she would be able to birth the way God intended : )

Just because she has a ton of kids doesn't mean she can do it naturally. It would be nice though. My last labor was harder than my first and it was my 6th kid. Yes, I have had Stadol. It makes you groggy...I just don't like that feeling, plus, it does not take the pain away...just sull it to make it more "bearable". The epidural takes it all away and so you can sleep, play, relax...and then push when it is time. I personally opt fo the epidural.

NUBAIN can produce respiratory depression in the neonate. It should be used with caution in women delivering premature infants.

I had Stadol a few hours before my epidural. I felt like I was in a constant fog, trying to get out. You feel every ctxn, too, it's just that you fall asleep (sort of) b/w each. It really wasn't helping and I was trying to come out of the fog for like an hour to tell them I needed something more for pain relief. Ugh... I swore never again! (Ended up having two scheduled c-section after that, so I didn't have to worry about it).

ive heard that an epideral slows down your labor, that's the last thing i want, i think im going natural for the 3rd time.
