Maddie natural birth is another term for v____al. I just had my baby v____aly with an epidural and stadol and anything else they would give me, at his one week checkup the dr asked me if I had him 'naturally' I was like no I had an epidural he said no did you have him by c-section or v____al? I had him v____al he said that means I had him natural, And as far as a slow labor because of drugs this one was even quicker than the last after the epidural it took 45 min to get to 10 cm from 2-4 took about an hour my mom and sister almost missed the whole thing I couldn't beleive it went so fast, I healed very quickly and had a great experiance just hangin out watching TV in between pushing

I have been reading the various different views on this subject and although I have nothing but the upmost respect for a woman that can have a baby with no pain relief of any kind, I am not that woman. I had my first child at 18 and thought I would use no pain meds, until the pitocin drip started and they broke my water. The first contraction was horrible after that and I was yelling for some relief. That being said, I am a wimp when it comes to pain, I have an extremely low tolerance. With that baby I was only in labor for 4 hours. When I was in labor with my daughter I thought once again I would try with no pain meds. I was able to do it for a while, I did have a couple of shots of stadol though. After about 10 hours hard labor with her I asked for one more shot then god please give me that epidural. Well she finally entered the world after 18 hours. If you do decide to get the epidural, it was much easier to have a shot of something first. I am currently 38.5 weeks with my third and final child and still undecided as to how I will proceed. I would like to see if labor is easier if I am not induced, but he is happy right where he is, so we will see. I have heard that pitocin makes the contractions much harder and more painful. I have nothing else to compare it to though. Good luck to all of you ladies who are brave enough to have labor and delivery pain free, I for one cannot do it.

A medicated v____al birth is natural. An unmedicated v____al birth is SUPERNATURAL. :)...My unmedicated v____al birth felt very supernatural and spiritual. I didn't feel like myself. I felt like I had supreme power.

A v____al birth is the delivery of the child through the v____al opening or birth cannel. A Cesarean Section is a major operation in which a surgical incision is made through the abdominal wall and into the uterus to order to extract the baby. A "natural" birth is no drugs...an "a__sisted" birth involves the aid of pain medication. Why is this being debated? These are the terms. I'm not bashing women who have a__sisted births, if the pain is that bad there's nothing wrong with it. Any woman who carries a child for nine months and gives birth, which ever way...is a super hero to me!

Without trying to offend Maddie, or anyone for that matter. A "natural" birth refers to a baby being born v____ally. The type of birth you are referring to is "unmedicated".

Just wondering where you are getting your terms from. Every single website that came up under "natural" birth...describes the birth as being that which the mother has used no medications in aiding the labor process. Just GOOGLE the term natural birth. Almost anyone will know exactly what you're talking about when you say..."I'm going to have a NATURAL childbirth". They will most likely say..."Oh, you mean you're not going to have any medication?" It is JUST a term that is commonly used to describe birth this way. It's not putting any woman down at all. Why so defensive? I'd like to know the definition of NATURAL birth...VAGINAL birth....MEDICATED birth...and CESARIAN birth. You'll find the answers on any website, or in any book.

Oh, I totally reconsidered during labor! LOL! I got to transition and I really wanted the epidural. :) But by then, it was almost over, and I was so glad I didn't get it, because of the risks involved.

hi, i have had a natural home birth.
listen ladies, every single medicaiton you take during pregnancy and labor gets to your baby, including epidurals. your doc might tell you different, but if you research it, you will find that many studies have shown that babies from mamas with epidurals are sleepier and have significantly more trouble b___stfeeding.and obviously if you take narcotics during labor your baby will come out drugged.
labor is HARD WORK and it hurts, but as long as you are free to eat, drink, move around, and have people you love with you, you can do it!

michelle,
of the 3 a___lgesic pain relief methods you used - demerol, stadol, nubain, which one would you choose to use again?

I like stadol. If it were sold over the counter, I'd be in trouble ;). I felt sleepy and out of control with the nubain and demerol. The stadol I felt as if the pain were a step or ten away. I was aware that I was uncomfortable, but it didn't seem to matter. I felt in control and was able to actively manage my labor and delivery. The other two drugs I fell asleep but kept waking up for contractions and wasn't coordinated enough to effectively push. hth
