Induced B C High Blood Pressure

Has anyone had to be induced b/c of high blood pressure? Thanks.

Were you induced just b/c high blood pressure or did you also have preeclampsia? I'm 37 weeks and just started having high blood pressure. I'm going to Dr today to find out whats going on. Thanks

I had high blood pressure at 35 weeks, no preclampsia. Then again at 39 weeks. She put me on bed rest and that made it go down. 4 days past my due date she did my stress test and said the baby was fine but she recommended an induction. I was HUGE, uncomfortable, and sick of being pregnant. I was induced that night. It was not a good experience. This was my first child so I have nothing to compare it to but I really think if I had waited it would have been easier for me. However, my doctor seemed very concerned that my BP would spike again and that it might turn into preclampsia/toxemia. I trusted her advice and would do it again if it was recommended to me. I think it was so bad because first of all I was only 2 cm dilated and my cervix was not soft. Then my BP went up during labor so they wouldn't let me walk around and I had to lay on my side to keep it down. After all was done I was just happy I didn't have a c-section and my baby was healthy. How high is your BP? Take it easy and lay on your side whenever possible to keep it down.

Jessica, I think I may have also had a bit of protein in my urine, I was never quite clear on whether I officially had preeclampsia or just hypertension. When she called to the nurse to have her schedule the induction, and the nurse asked the reason, she said hypertension, so I don't know. It probably depends on the dr and how far along you are. I was 39 weeks.

I forgot to mention that I was also 3 cm dilated and 60% effaced at the time. It wasn't too hard to put me into labor although my labor did stall a bit before transition.

Well, I went to my see my Dr. and my blood pressure was a little high 144/96 and they said I was showing signs of preeclampcia(i've also seen little silver spots every once in a while) so they want me to say on bed rest and they scheduled me to be induced Mon. They never said for sure if I actually have preeclampcia/PIH. Also I was 2cm dilated and 50% effaced. Anyway thanks for your respones.
