i am 35 weeks and 2 days pregnanet with my first last week my dr. checked if i was dialating and i wasent but yesterday he said that im 40% effaced and 1 cm dialated do you think i can go into labor soon?

I wouldn't hold your breath. It is pretty common for first timers to dilate and efface a bit and then stall for weeks. I am the mother of two. Our daughter will be three in February, and our son is 4.5 months. I started to dilate and efface early with our daughter, and later with our son. You could be stuck where you are for awhile. Don't let this discourage you. You will progress when the time is right, and if you don't then your OB will help you along. Congratulations in advance. Please post your birth story when the time comes.

You can be dilated for weeks....first babies generally don't come early....good luck!

amen to that. mine came late! and i wasn't dilated until that last week.
