I'm in my 34th week and i've been having very mild menstrual cramps...what does this mean?

I have heard that menstrual cramps can be a sign that labour is close. But I am not sure at what stage it happens( just before, or weeks )
If anything elce strange happens I would check with a doctor just to be on the safe side, if you can prevent labour for 3 more weeks baby will be at full term.
